please help! armpit opened up after arm lift :(
My tummy is bigger on one side and so my incision is crooked. He did not even say anything about it. As if it looked perfect. Going to my follow up appointment was a complete waste. I think he likes it when patients love their results but he is not good with someone who complains. He did not offer to revise me nor would I want him to. There is a woman who posted on vitals.com that he ruined her breasts the first time, then completely butchered them when he revised them. She said it took her $20k with another surgeon to fix them. She said Dr. Joe offered her a refund and then changed his mind about it. I really did not let her review sway me from having my surgery with him because he had so many other glowing reviews. albeit most of them older. But I have come to learn that many patients will not post negative reviews. I have exchanged emails with patients privately about their dissatisfaction, though.
Good luck to you if you choose to use him again.

Wow I am so sorry! Over all I am happy. My arms are awesome but one is open (annoying) My boobs could be better but they are way better than they were. They look like different sizes and one it nice the other just does not seem right but my boobs were far from perfect before. I have no money to fix it with him or anyone else. I def feel better about myself.
How is your opening doing? I have a little pinhole in each armpit but Dr. C and Scott told me it is normal and that it did not mean that they would open up. I know the skin dehiscence is not that big of a deal clinically but I really don't want to have it happen to me. I keep wearing the panty liners under my arms like you suggested in one of your videos. I cannot stand the feeling of stickiness between the skin to skin contact and it is just more comfortable with the liners. I am hoping for no complications and I think as the other poster pointed out I have about a 50-50 chance of that. I use my arms a lot though, so I won't be too surprised if I get an opening. I really hope not to get one in the groin! Ouch, I pulled the incision there the other day and it still hurts! It is inflamed but not wounded.
I think I may have had something similar to you when I had my tummy tuck with Dr. Capella. I had a fat deposit in my lower left abdo and I think that made the scar crooked (although when I told him it was crooked he said it wasn't, I forgot the way he explained it). Anyway, he revised that area when I had my surgery last week. He told me that sometimes he cannot get it all. I have heard this from Dr. LoMonaco on this board, too, that sometimes a revision is needed to tweak the results. My body was pretty deformed, particularly my mons was hideous. Dr. Capella fixed my mons in the first surgery and it was a world of a difference. It looked normal for the first time in my life. Then he revised it during my surgery last week. Now it looks gorgeous.
He offered to revise me, I did not have to ask. In fact, I was with him this afternoon and expressed that I did not like my areolas. He offered to revise them when we do the implants and said it would be easy. He also said he could revise my arse at my next surgery if I was not happy with it but that I needed to wait 3-mos to see what it actually looks like. Right now I have alot of swelling.
I did feel that going to my 3-mos follow-up appointment wasn't very productive. So I went back for another consult with him and he spoke with/exzamined me for 90-minutes. That was productive. He was great about speaking with me as much as I needed to prepare me for this next surgery. As far as follow-ups after this surgery, I have had two so far and never felt rushed. He and Scott gave me the time I needed to address my concerns. I scheduled 30-min appts with them rather than the usual 15-min post op because I tend to have a lot of questions. I think that Jennifer was a little surprised, too, that it feels like there should be more to the f/u appt, from what I saw in her video.
I am really sorry that you are unhappy with your results and your experience. Perhaps your body has not fully come into the surgery results yet and you will be happy down the road. It took a while for my TT results.Otherwise maybe reconsider speaking to him about a revision. Maybe you hit him on an "off day" for your post op? I say this because I've had so many interactions with him and he has always been pleasant but sometimes more jovial than other times.
Did he really make you get on a scale or are you figuratively speaking? I know that he is very forthright and at times a little too blunt for my sensitivities but I've always found him to be very gentle and compassionate and never confrontational.
I hope this helps.
Thanks for straightening me out Jen. Its just that she posted that right after my post. So I assumed she meant my PS. Although, I am surprised to hear such a negative post about Dr. Capella. I had only heard very good things about him until now. I hope your wounds are continuing to heal to your satisfaction.
Hi Hi! I had surgery with Dr C on June 25. I had a LBL, BL, and Arm Lift. I had an easy recovery aside from some places opening up on my arms and then spitting stitches on my incision line. I think some of those happened as late as 7 weeks out. I just had a tiny scab on my lbl incision where it spit another stitch but closed right back up. I'm super happy with my results. Other than my armpits, the scars on my arms are flat, thin and light pink already. I think I still have some swelling in my tummy because it's not all the way flat and I really don't have much fat on my body. My flanks are still swollen (I think). My boobies are adorable :) I'm super happy with everything and when you can't see the scars, even in tight clothes, I have the body of a 16 year old. I'm waiting for 6 months out to see my final results.
