I had the anchor done in September. No problems at all. I worked at home for two weeks and then went back, I have a desk job. Pain wasn't bad at all, just keep on schedule with your pain meds, don't deviate from that schedule. My scar is a very fine line, looks like it was drawn on. It's already starting to fade. Very happy with it.

I know this is a really old thread......Was wondering if you ever tried this? Or did your belly button end up turning out ok, if so how long did it take? I had the fleur de lis tummy tuck 9/11/13 and it turned out beautifully, but my belly button looks horrible. It's kind of like a half outie slit. I know I'm early out, and I am hoping that it sinks in and turns out round.

Honestly, I was scared to death about the pain from all of the stories that I read. I've been through the same as you, two natural child births and RNY and a Fleur de lis tummy tuck on 9/11/13. It definitely wasn't as bad as I had heard. My tip to you is to take your pain meds on schedule for the first week, whether you think you need them or not, don't miss a dose and don't take them late. Rest when you can and as much as you can. I slept in my recliner for the first two weeks after, it really helped by being more upright. Make sure you are wearing a compression garment. I barely had any swelling at all. I actually am still wearing it on most days.

I hit my goal weight weight of 163 lbs, 2 years and 3 months after RNY. Starting weight 328, current weight 160.5. Having RNY surgery was one of the best things I have ever done. Had a Fleur De Lis tummy tuck on 9/11/13 and will have breast lift in January. I am a very lucky girl. No problems at all with my RNY and I have a wonderful insurance company that not only paid for my RNY, but has also paid for my Tummy Tuck and will pay for my upcoming breast lift. Wish all insurance companies would do the same for everyone that needs this.
Before 328, after 160.5 (the after picture is actually me at around 180, I no longer have the roll around the middle)
Before and 6 days after Fleur De Lis Tummy Tuck.

I had the fleur de lis tummy tuck on 9/11/13. They had me buy the Marena one that goes under the breast and down to the knees. I was 173 at time of surgery and the nurse measured me and had me buy a size large. It is very tight, but totally helps with the swelling. I had almost no swelling at all. I had to wear this for the first 2 weeks, almost 24 hours a day and then I was able to wear spanx. They said to wear the spanx though week 6 and then at least when I am working out. The six week mark is tomorrow and there is no way I can go without wearing the spanx yet. I tried not wearing it over the weekend and after a few hours my stomach starts to ache in the middle between the belly button and pubic area. So I will be wearing something for a lot longer than 6 weeks.

Not mine, they deny everything. Thank goodness for my husbands insurance they covered tummy tuck and breast lift.
Good luck with them

I had a Fleur Di Lis Tummy tuck on 9/11/13, I was flat as can be afterwards and this was after 164 lb weight loss. That's hip to hip and then up the middle to just under the breast. Were you cut up the middle? My PS told me I wouldn't be happy with the regular tummy tuck because all of the fat that I would have remaining on my upper belly. He suggested the Fleur di lis. He removed skin and fat up the middle and pulled it all tight. He said if I didn't have that done, I would still have rolls of fat there.

I have a great on in Edmonds....Dr Harris at Puget sound Bariatrics....He's wonderful. Just did my tummy tuck on 9/11 and the results are amazing. Especially after 160 lb weight loss.

Go see Dr. Harris at Puget Sound Surgical Center, it's in Edmonds, I know it's not S. Seattle, but he's awesome. I was approved for breast reduction and he said when doing the breast reduction it's automatically a lift too. Haven't had it done yet, was just approved a couple of weeks ago and just had tummy tuck with him last week.

I was recently approved for abdominoplasty/panniculectomy and insurance is covering it at 80%, so my portion comes out to be about $1900. In December I went in for plastics consult and they took pictures and we decided to go ahead and try for approval without any medical documentation other than the letter of necessity that my surgeon wrote up and the pictures. They denied it, stating lack of medical necessity. So I started going to my PCP and we documented everything for 3 months. Document any rashes, what you have used to try to fix it. Have your PCP prescribe you prescription medication to try. I was a little surprised when they actually approved the abdominoplasty too. I've always thought that it was a considered a cosmetic procedure that insurance didn't cover, but they said that our documentation deemed it medically necessary. I'll take it. Once I was approved for this, we then submitted documentation to see if we can get the mastoplexy done. Currently waiting on decision for that.

I just had my pre-op appointment for my tummy tuck, I made sure that I asked my plastic surgeon if the mons lift was included. He said yes, thank goodness. It would have looked so ugly to have a nice flat tummy and then poochy, puffy hoo ha.

We submitted for insurance approval just with the plastic surgeon pictures and notes at first. And of course it was denied. Then I went to my PCP and we documented everything for 3 months. Everything we tried, prescriptions, everything. Then resubmitted it and had an answer in under two weeks. Now I'm waiting on approval for breast reduction/lift too. Hopefully that goes through. Wishing you all the luck......

How was your recovery? Any pointers or things that helped you make it through the first few days?

Ok, you had me freaked out, so I asked the surgeons office that question and here is what they replied.
"An abdominoplasty is the medical term for a tummy tuck. You are correct that insurance companies don’t cover a tummy tuck for cosmetic reasons. What you did by going to see Dr. Brogren was to demonstrate to the insurance company that you needed an abdominoplasty due to ‘medical necessity.” On your secondary insurance they do cover a tummy tuck if you meet medical necessity. When I submitted your case to the insurance I included a letter of medical necessity, your chart notes from Dr. Harris and Dr. Brogren as well as the pre op pictures we took. A medical director reviews all of the submitted clinical information and then makes a determination if it’s medically necessary or cosmetic. Based on the information we submitted it is medically necessary for you to have a tummy tuck."
So yay, it is a real tummy tuck.....

Good to know, I have no clue about any of this. I will definatly be asking more questions. Thank you!

Finished up documenting 3 months of rashes under my belly flap, June 4th. Everything was submitted to insurance by the following week. I got a call yesterday saying I was approved for panniculectomy and abdominolplasty. I am so excited and nervous and scared, but also relieved. I was surprised they approved the abdominoplasty, I've always heard that's more of a cosmetic procedure. Oh well, I'll take it.
