Topic: Dark skin around neck
I was diagnosed with PCOS 10 years ago. I have completed 3 of my 6 required NUT classes for RNY surgery. The skin around my neck is getting soooo much darker and now I can feel a skin tag coming up. It's grossing me out! It makes me feel so dirty. Do you believe it is PCOS related? If so why is it just coming more noticeable in the last year or so when I've had PCOS for so long? Does the skin coloration go away after you loose weight from surgery? God I hope so!

Very interesting!! I had my first Bartholin cyst about 2 years ago!! The most painful thing I have ever experienced in my entire life!!! The first one I had excised at the ER room after sitting at work all day in such severe pain and then barely being able to walk to the ER (I work in the hospital). The lidocane shot they gave me in the area in order to drain the cyst was horrible!!! Then I had another one about a year ago and that time I went to my doctor's office for treatment. The doctor made the incision without any numbing shot and that was so much easier to handle than the lidocane shot.
My mom also gets the severe boils (and I would put money on it that she has PCOS), even though her PCP has said she doesnt.

Topic: RE: Pregnancy after WLS
I am 14 months post op and have been infertile for over 14 years (Have a beautiful adopted daughter though). I just sort of gave up on trying to get pregnant since I am almost 38 and so much time has already gone by. Well...what do you know? I am 6 weeks pregnant. I swear it is a miracle because I tried EVERYTHING...including treatment. I think my body is finally healthy and ready (I have lost almost 90 pounds). Now I just have to use my tool to make sure I stay as healthy as possible.
Topic: Hope for pregnancy after RNY
I just wanted to offer a bit of encouragement to my fellow PCOers. I am 37 (will be 38 years old August 1st) and had RNY Feb. 12th of 2008. So let me give you some background. I was dx with PCO when I was about 21. I gained quite a bit of weight and when I got married I settled in at about 230. My husband and I tried everything to get pregnant including Gonal-F and Artificial Insemination ($4000 for one month down the toilet). We decided to adopt our daughter in 1998 which was the best decision we ever made. She is going to be 11 in July. Again, I had several ultrasounds and tests done and was told there really was no way I could get pregnant. I have a low thyroid which already complicates things and my hormones have always been out of whack. So fast forward....I had surgery and successfully have lost almost 90 pounds (started at 5'6" and 260 pounds and got down to 173 or so). Well I just received the most shocking news of my life. I am 6 weeks pregnant. Yep, almost 38 and have had unprotected sex for 14 years!!! Be careful what you wish for huh? I am excited and scared all at the same time. I just hope I don't miscarry. This is my FIRST time ever being pregnant. I just wanted to offer encouragement and let you know that, for me, the surgery has profoundly changed my life. I wish I had done it earlier but I know I am wiser now and will use the tool more effectively.

This thread is fascinating, I've had these for years and no one - including my OBGYN could explain them.
Topic: RE: Skin Tags
I am so disgusted with my skin tags and they are getting worst. I never asked to have them removed yet. I was thinking calling my primary dr. and see if she can remove them and some how put it down for insurance something else.
Topic: RE: Which WLS is best for women with PCOS ?
Hi, my triplets where a blessing given to me by medical science LOL We did two years worth of fertility treatments in order to be able to have them, they are now almost 7 years old. The current "opps" is still cooking, I am 18 weeks preggo, when I got down around 50 lbs my period started coming back pretty normal (28 to 30 days) which I had honestly never had in my life. I was shocked when that pregnancy test came back positive after all we had been though! I think you will be shocked at the changes your body will go though after your DS, you truly become a whole new person! Good luck with everything.

Wow!!
I love hearing stories like yours!! Congrats!! Were your triplets the accidental pregnancy? Or were they in addition? I keep wondering if I will have to undergo fertility treatments a couple of years after I have my DS. Kudos to you!

Topic: RE: Period Problems??? TMI alert!
I had started a few days before surgery and then started again a week after. My guess is that it changes things due to my experience.
But really you need to get that checked by someone cause bleeding that long can cause serious iron deficiency and make you anemic. You need to get it in check before that happens. If your doc is not taking you seriously go to another one till you find one that does. Bleeding for a month is excessive.

I get something like these boils but I'm not sure if it's the same thing... but really glad to know it could be the PCOS- I was wondering what the heck it was all about! By the way, I see you are a patient of Dr Pomp. I have my first visit with him coming up on May 6. How do you like him? Any advice ?
