Pouch Size?
Hey everyone,
I am 9 days post op and I feel terrific! No vomiting and such, the only time I feel the slightest bit naseuous is at bedtime. I am at stage two and am enjoying creamed soups and Cream of rice type stuff. I am finding it hard to take an entire hour too eat my portions. Let say I eat just soup for lunch, if I take an hour I can eat an entire cup of soup. The funny thing is before the surgery I could eat an entire quart of soup. If I do half soup and half cream of rice then I fill up faster and cannot eat as much. THis leads me to guess that the more complex food you eat the fuller you fill up. Has anyone had similar experiences?
I'm 5 1/2 weeks post op, and you're right. The consistency of the food determines the amount you can eat. If I eat something liquidy, I can eat quite a bit. But if it's thicker, I can only eat about 1/4 cup. That's why I measure everything. Nothing goes in my mouth unless I have measured it, so I know how much I'm getting.
I am 1 month out and have to take only a half hour to eat - also at this point am to measure everything into 3tablespoon (1/4 cup) sizes to prevent overeating. My NUT said you will definately notice (especially later on) how different foods make you feel full longer - she said if you ate 3 saltine crackers in a 1/2 hour they would be gone from your stomach but if you ate 3 triscuits they would be there an hour and a half later! Anything "heavier" is going to stick around longer than something liquidy.
