Bad Luck with Isopure
Before I had my revision to the RNY, I had a VBG. At that time I used Isopure for my protein shakes, because it doesn't have any carbs or fat. Plus it packs 50 gms of protein. I mixed it with milk and I did fine.
Now I've had a revision to the RNY and my gall bladder removed. I've been drinking the Isopure shakes, and they've been making me slightly nauseated. I chalked it up to the fact that they took my gall bladder, and I thought it was the milk causing the nausea. Yesterday morning, I drank a protein shake for breakfast. I had diarreah all day long! But I wasn't nauseated, I just couldn't quit running to the bathroom. So I decided that today I would mix the Isopure with water instead of milk. Two hours later (nothing else to eat yet), I had to leave work due to major stomach cramps, nausea (almost vomited), major diarreah, cold sweats, headache, and dizziness. I was barely able to drive myself home.
I slept for a long time and woke up feeling better, but I have major gas. I've read here on forum that whey protein is tasteless and can be added to just about anything, so I am going to try that. Any other suggestions?
Hi Becky
Are you using a full serving of Isopure ( 2 scoops) for your shakes? If so it just may be too much protein at one time especially if you are adding milk to the mix which gives you another 8 grams.
The body can only handle about 30 or so grams at a time so if your doing the full serving plus milk you're taking in 58 at a time
Try only using 1 scoop and see if that help. I've been using the Isopure for about 2 months without any problem at all.
Regards and hugs,
