I just looked at my journal for yesterday and realized I went over 1000cals.. and I'm afraid because I think we're supposed to stay within 700-900cals a day??? I don't have a nutritionist so I'm doing this by myself and I don't know if going over 1000cals is bad or not. And I KNOW it's 'only 1 day' but it was so easy and it will be easy for me to do it again....

Laura: I am only one month ahead of you and my Nut says to shoot for 800-1000 calories a day. In fact someone on the June board asked what we were doing for calories and almost all of us said 800-1000. So, you are right there.  You are young and active, this might actually jump start your weight loss.  It is a scary feeling though, I get you on that. That is why I keep using Fitday, I want to keep close track. hang in there! judi

Hi there!  My NUT and surgeonn do not have us count calories.  We do volume and "food groups"  SO for example at 2 year plus post op here is my daily volume and categories.  B: 4oz Protein 2oz Carbs 2oz Fruit L: 4oz Protein 2oz Fruit 2oz Veggies D: 4oz Protein 2oz Veggies 2oz Carbs **1-2 snacks of fruit and/or veggies optional I also drink 3 glasses of organic non fat milk daily.  1 in my protein shake.  Try tomorrow as a new day --- some days I am hungrier and can eat more, the next day I have no appetite at all.

I've been doing 1000-1400 cal per day since 4 months, per my nut's recommendation.  I have continued to lose weight, and I feel great.  I also feel like I am eating "normally".  I know everyone is different, and everyones nuts recommend something different, but I would be a crabby human on 600-700 calories a day.  At some point you have to start eating normally, and that doesn't strike me as particularly normal. YMMV

I was told 1000-1200 calories a day and I find it near impossible to get to 1000 plus I'm terrified of getting there also. It's crazy.. My surgeon keeps telling me to up the calories and carbs but its hard to retrain my mind/body to eat more when all the years of dieting I had to make myself eat less.

At three to six months my plan says 1,000 to 1,200 calories per day.  Meals only, no protein drinks.  And 60-80 g. protein each day. I have been sticking to this pretty well and losing. I think you should keep it around 1,000 or even a little more. Let me know if you need anything else...I have my paperwork right here. They also told us to get 1,000 to 1,200 mg. of Calcium CITRATE w/ Vitamin D added, but no more than 600 mg at a time. Anna

So tomorrow you only take in 900...It will even out. I post all my intake on fitday and then after a month I ran a report for the month..I average 1400 but there are some days I range up to 2200 and some days I don't even make 1200...It evens out. Just make sure, if you really think it matters, that you don't continually range up in the high numbers.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

You can make up for it this weekend... exercise more... take in your protein and water... eat clean for a few days...

I'm about 14 mos. out... I try to only eat 600... but know I've had as much as 800... and as little as 200. I exercise alot as I have too much energy I don't know what to do with myself... so I get into trouble on here... and exercise a LOT!!!

My best to you!
