How soon post-op did you realize you were lactose intolerant??
So I hear lactose intolerace can occur post-op, but I wanted to know at what point were you pretty sure this was going on with you. I've just never been really great at listening to my body and I don't want to mistake it for something else.
Thanks for any opinions!

second glass of milk postop ... 8 oz.... gurgling tummy, painful gas, horrible diarrhea. AND I dumped.
third glass (to be sure) all of the same... dumped worse, gurgles worse, gas worse, everything worse
fourth glass... of Lactaid.... and I dumped horribly
Now I don't do milk, and I'm doing great.

I chased my dreams, and my dreams, they caught me!

I drank a shake and promptly experienced a 40 minute gut flu. Nausea, dry heaves, diarrhea, gas, belly, cramps, cold sweats, exhaustion,
At first I thought I was dumping, but I couldn't figure out on what---but there is 15 G of sugar in milk, so I thought maybe that's my sugar limit.
Then I started mixing the shakes with ice water---------but I was still queasy, I had to make myself keep them down. The taste nor the smell bothered me. It's the whey.
I'm taking acidolpholis (sic) wafers now, and mixing my shakes with 1/2 soy milk and 1/2 yogurt with live cultures. It seems to work.
Tried the soy protein powder---too gritty.
Thanks for the heads up!
