Someone talk me outta this...

Shari!  Squid!  Somebody!!!!

Tomorrow is Chick-Fil-A night to benefit my children's school...and dammit I want some Chik'n Strips!!!  Three of them are 350 calories, 17g fat, 17g carbs, 33g protein.  I can probably eat 2 of the 3 pieces if they are all the big sized ones.  If they give me two regulars and the little midget one, I could prolly do all three.

Ok, here are the pro's:

1.  I have checked.  I can balance out the fat and carb hit in my daily plan.
2.  I am benefitting my children's school (ok that's justification cuz I could just as easily benefit the school by ordering a chargrilled chicken salad)
3.  I WANT IT!!!  And I really, really have been good so this would fit under the "moderation" category
4.  I am sure to get a good poo out of it
5.  Mondo protein

The con's:

1.  I love it therefore it must be evil (gotta get that programming out of my head)
2.  I'll prolly gain five pounds knowing my luck (or, actually, as experience has suggested, I may see a loss all of a sudden...it could go either way)

So as you can see the con's list is clearly biased and way too short.  Someone give me a good, sturdy reason why I should not do this.

Is that your only choice for the school benefit?  I eat their club sandwich without the bread..  Lots of protein!

No, we can choose from the whole menu.  But it is what I want!!!  Therein lies the problem.  It's not really an "I'm going to fall off the wagon thing" (if you follow the "what are you eating" thread you've seen that there are only a few posters here who I'd consider more neurotic about protein/carb/fat ratios than I am).  It's more a check and balance thing I suppose...I dunno...

But thank you for your suggestion.

Frankly I'd rather talk you into it.  Assuming you aren't planning on accompanying those strips with the big ass fries and soda, I think they can totally work in your day.  Are they a splurge?  Heck yeah, and you deserve it once in a while.

Yes, but because I like it and it's a splurge...it is SUPER EVIL!!!

I don't trust myself.  Not even a little bit.

It's not like you're going out with your family to buy these things, an "activity" you could repeat.  It's a once in a very "blue moon" instance, and not one you're initiating.  As long as you've already planned for it in your day, I say go for it.  I have a few weddings and I have been at these halls before, so I know what to expect, and I'm not too concerned (always a bit nervous, but not too concerned) that I can balance the day.

I firmly believe that if I want something AND can plan for it, if it doesn't go too far away from my eating plan (which is VERY tight as to what I will and won't eat), and it won't make me ill and/or dump, then it's ok.  It's as close to normal as I will get, which is my goal.

How about compromise.  I dont know NOTHIN' bout no chick-fil-a as that is not in my area....but most of these places now do side salads.

I would get a side salad and then have ONE of thos pieces.... a nice compromise.  You get some of what you want, without being denied and save a few cals.  Heck, if they didn't have it on the menu I might even pack my own little salad!!

Just an idea...

She truly doesn't.  Truth be told I love the damn chicken salad.  I get the Southwest one.  I can now eat all the chicken off of it and about half the veggies.  It's like 200-some calories and nummy!  Problem is I want Chick'n strips!!!
