Peeps that had tummy tucks...question

Hey, I am one week TT post op.  I am just wondering when the swelling went down.  Kinda for selfish reasons...haha.  I just got my 40% off rewards coupon for American Eagle and it expires May 21st.  I just want to know if I will be able to try on clothes that will still fit after the swelling goes down, or if the swelling will go down before then.

Tell me about your TT experience ;)

In approximately 6 weeks your swelling will be down, but not gone....Some people tend to notice the swelling continues until you are approximately a year out.  If you are only a week PO, you are still continuing to see your plastic surgeon, please ask them what their rules of thought are on regarding this.  One thing that really helped me was wearing a compression garment long afterwards.

Are you wearing a binder that will help.

I thought my swelling was down after a couple of months but I actually got much smaller after about 6 months. Everyone is different though... I'm a big time sweller. I had a ton done at once too might have made a difference. My body was saying WTH!?!!? big time!

Yeah, I am supposed to wear a binder for 3 weeks.  I have not really tired on any of my size 4 pants that I wore before my TT so I dont know how swollen I am, if its a lot or not, but I obviously I am.  I dont remember swelling much with my open RNY but I was really paying attention to it and I was loosing weight so fast so I did not really notie.

What all did you have done at once?

My doctor told me that I wouldn't be completely healed for 1 year. Most of the swelling went down after 3 months but I can still see changes even now 6 months later.

I am 7 months out and still have some swelling.  My surgeon said it could take up to a year before it all goes away.   Early out from my PS was almost like early out from RNY.  My size when it decided to change would drop a couple of sizes fast.

I had gone on vacation and had bought new pants to fit the new me 1 week before we left.  They were literally falling off me 2 days into the vaca and I had to buy new to keep from being embarassed!

How many sizes have you gone down since your TT?

It is hard to say, I had a hernia the size of a basketball (for real) and they removed 15 pounds of stuff, so I was still in 1x's at time of surgery.  I am in 10-12's now and may never see your 4 but that is fine with me.  I am still almost down 200 pounds.

I am scheduled for surgery on June 30, 2010.  I was told that I may have a problem due to my hernia.  I original planned to do the lap band but have changed to roux-en-Y I am new to the site so i am not sure about how all this works

My swelling took a little over 2 months to go down almost completely (it has been almost 3 months and I still have just a little swelling around my waist, especially on one side), but  it was about half gone after 6 weeks.  Th weird things was that most of my swelling was in my hips and thighs, and it didn't START until I was about 2 weeks out.  (My PS does not use a binder after simple TTs.)
