I would love to be 5'8, being short sometimes has it advantages...like I'm so short if I fall I won't hurt myself so much cuz I'm closer to the ground!

I love working out with weights in my weight lifting class. The hour goes by so fast, the instructor makes it fun and believe me I am the one in the class that groans all the time...cracks em' up everytime.

I've been working on lunges to build my tushy up, but dang...where did my butt go?????

Sign me up!
I will be 2 years out on 07/09/09. I have lost 147 lbs. and have been at goal for a few weeks
My surgeons goal was 160 lbs. and I am now going between 159-162.

I have lost quite a bit of muscle, even with weight training. I hurt my lower back doing Wii Fit houla hoop right before Christmas, and am still trying to get over it. I have not been weight training since then, and exercise now consists of mostly walking daily. I will find out about how much muscle lost, when I go to my 2 year follow up in a couple of weeks.

I have added in carbs, and get 100-120 grams most days. I am eating more fruit, veggies, and whole grains.

I am 3.5 years post op.  There is not enough activity on the Grad board to keep me checking in.  This thread sounds great.

I bounce between 156-159.  I say that specifically because I haven't ever hit 155, YET, and I do not allow myself to hit 160 again.  I can feel it in my clothes first, scale second.  I thought I was a size 14 (very thick waist) but actually my newest clothes are 10/12.  Who knew?

I do not exercise.
I do not journal food.
I do not keep track of carbs.

I take a full regimen of vitamins and adjust if my labs change.
I eat protein first and at every meal.
No bounce back weight.

I lost a bit over 100 pounds and became a real weakling.  Muscle mass was gone.  I was very strong prior to WLS so it was a shock.  I am improving slowly but still find myself weaker than I used to be.  But hey, I am going to be fifty next month, I can finally let a boy carry something for me.  I have earned the right to be treated special.

I want the exercise bug to bite me.  I would be thrilled to walk for four days in a row!
Which vitamin can I take that makes me want to sweat and exercise?

When you find that pill for exercise, let me know! :)

Congrats on your new size!  I am thick waisted, and little hips.  I can relate.

I am thrilled to hear there has been no bounce-back weight.  Lets put that myth to rest.

I'll check in - sort of.  I'm officially at my surgeon's goal as of this morning but really stopped trying in February to lose weight.  I was 6 pounds from goal at that point and my surgeon agreed that I should start maintaining.  His goal was 180.  I started at 389 so that's a huge number, weight loss wise, and he was happy.

About 2 weeks ago, my husband reminded me that I really wanted to hit 160 as a personal goal so I started to somewhat try again.  He only mentioned because he didn't want me to get too far out and not achieve what I set out to do.  I got to 179 this morning without really trying.  So I figure that while I'm not actively trying to lose weight I am watching my carbs more closely.  I was pleased that I was able to maintain for 5 months with almost zero effort.

Hi Crystal!

I love this post and so nice to have it to check in with one another!

My normal routine is different right now as I have been recovering from plastics.

Prior to plastics I was maintaing in the lower 140's and that was up from my lowet of 133.  Surgery day weighed 144 now got down to 133 again but bounce around with swelling.  The swell hell is a doosie with this.  Exercise too much u pay for it, eat salt, you pay for it, etc

Before I dove into plastics I was running 3-5 miles a day, 5 days a week, and doing heavy weight lifting twice weekly on my arms and once weekly on my legs since I work them a lot running.  Then the other two days I am a 12 hour floor nurse and run my fanny off that way.

I haven't upped my carbs intentionally but it happens when I don't always eat on plan.  I splurge a lot more than I used to but then I keep it in check also... I watch the scale close and I have a window.. I make myself get strict if the pounds creep up more than 5-7.

I don't journal but I do know round abouts in my heads for calories and grams of this or that from learning from journalling my 1st year when I was diligent.  I eat about 2000-2200 cals ot maintain with my activity, if I am not as active (like now) then around 1300-1600ish.

You look great Crystal!
Hugs, Melissa

Hey Crystal!
I am 5 years out. I bounce up and down between 165-173. Been the upper of that as of late...I love carbs, esp at night!! And I think this is week #3 that I have yet to set foot in the gym. I am like that...I'll do really good and then fall off the wagon. Def off the wagon right now!!! I don't know what it is. It snowballs...I'm tired so I don't want to work out...but I know I'm tired because I'm not working out. DUH. Fat brain lives forever. But hell I can't complain, I think that's pretty good for 5 years and one kid since my WLS!!!!! Oh and your post made me think of something...I too feel I was 'stronger' before I lost all of my weight. I could lift lots more when I was fat and trying to lose BEFORE WLS. I can't add to the carb count thing...I have never counted anything. It makes me batty!

Valena you are so inspiring!  I think everyone is like that - they do well and then fall off the wagon.  Im off the wagon with certain things in my life, we cant be perfect.  I am ON the wagon with the gym this week, but there's always next week...

Hi Crystal,

Thanks for the new thread! I am over 2.5 years out and have lost over 230 lbs. I have been maintaining between 150-155 for several months now. I have talked before in my blog and my YouTube channel about "What now?" I am learning all about what to do now that everything isn't about losing weight any longer. Sometimes it's still something that really amazes me! I spent SO much time being all about the LOSING.

I got married this last year AND moved from California to England. And this week I started a new job for a company I worked for in California. They tracked me down and asked me to work remotely from here. Gosh! LOL!

So-some days are still a bit difficult. My mind still falls upon food and what to eat and not to eat. Some days I do great-other days I fall short. It's not about perfection, but it IS about being honest and willing to keep track and NOT give up.

I am looking forward to participating in this new thread!

Congrats on your success as well.

Peace,
Therese
