Hello All...Had my bypass 8/25 and so far so good....sick of liquids tho. I am not hungry but I tell you my appetite is still there. I have to say that I am scared to death that I will fail this, the band was hell for me, I hope this helps me on my journey.

Don't put a question mark where God has put a period!

I'm just two weeks out.  I'm not hungry either, but my head tells me I am.  I think it will get easier with each day.

Hang in there, think positive and do all the right things.  Exercise, get your fluids in, take your vitamins, get in the proper amount of protein and you will be just fine.  Good luck.

Dolly,
Time to do some head changing ideas for you...
You WILL be a success at this WLS journey, you will NOT fail
There is nothing for you to be scared about.

Embrace this lifestyle change, know that you are not on a diet.
Set reasonable goals for yourself...this isn't a race, this is for lifetime.
Be sure to exercise, drink all your water, never drink with meals and always take your vitamins.

Find several workout buddies if you can.
MY BF had the lapband, she is a success and we are each others biggest cheerleaders.

It took me 2 years to get to goal size 6/8, I'm 53 and a revision so the weight came off slower for me. I love my RNY, it was the best choice for me.

Of course you appetite is there and always will be, it's just making the right food choices from now on along with portion control. You have a great tool now to help you with the portion control.

I am two years out as a band to bypass patient (two slips and erosion of the band - hell for me too). There is no comparison at all. You will just love your bypass. I lost all my excess weight quickly (in the first 18 months) and have been maintaining at a size 0 or 2 (depending on manufacturer) ever since. Bypass is lightyears better than band!
CONGRATS!!!!!!

P.S. - You likely will lose just as fast as a new bypass patient. I did.

Just keep on sip, sip, sipping.

One of the things I did to change up my liquids was to add seasonings like garlic powder, oregano, etc to the broth.  Mix onion and beef or onion and chicken.  I made jello and added the clear protein bullet stuff to it to give me a protein boost.

And BTW, you have the BEST-EST surgeon EVER!  Garth is doing my followups here in Texas even though I had my surgery in Alabama.

Look for a PM - I'll send you my info if you need someone local to vent to!! and KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
