I'm just two weeks out, but I definitely had a moment after going to the zoo on Sunday.  All the food smelled so good!  On the way home I cried because I was like what have I done!  Who wants to pay $6 for a hamburger anyways! My hubby was so great....I knew he was hungry, but he didn't get anything. I know it will all be worth it in the end!

11 days until I can have some real solid food!  YAY

Hi Mommy,
Yeah, I had a couple moments like that, but they faded.  Eventually you'll be able to have your favorites again (if your food tastes don't change), but in sane quantities.  In the meanwhile, the weight loss compensates for a whole lot!

It really is easier once you can eat something. It's very, very hard when you are on liquids and puree.  Even if you can't eat your old favs, you will find some new ones that are healthy and will satisfy you. But buyer's remorse is pretty common.

Hang in there.  It gets better and better.  Just make sure you have a protein snack with you so you won't be hungry. Early on I would just sit and sip my water and let my family order and eat because I chose the surgery.  And now, 13 weeks out,  I can eat a few bites with them - so it all works out with time.

I'm about 5 days post op and last night my partner (who does not cook, does not know how to cook) was grilling a flank steak (with my instructions) from the bedroom.       All of a sudden, she yells for me to come out because she's crying because she can't cut the steak right (using a butter knife.......YES a butter knife).   Anyway,  I then proceeded to look at that wonderful steak and sliced it for her and though I kept the sadness to myself.......I was really regretting the decision to have the surgery because all I wanted to do was cut off a small piece to taste it.

Ohhh I totally hear ya! You have a fantastic husband for him not eating one. My husband and daughter both eat like normal. It SUCKS bad. My house smelled like KFC the other night and last night PIZZA. OMG. It takes everything that I have in me to not just nibble on something.
