Surgeon says symptom unusual - 7 mos out

Saw my surgeon and the dietician yesterday at 7 month mark.  Not knowing what is normal, I've been putting up with this as my new normal, but surgeon said symptom is unusual. Wondering if anyone else has similar experience.  In the morning, I feel normal.  When I begin to eat or drink anything, I feel the sensation of pressure under by left rib, about the same level as my stomach would be.  All this time I've thought that my stomach moved over.  But surgeon says it is midline, and by now, I shouldn't feel it all the time.  He thought it sounded like a possible mild ulcer, but the location makes it unusual.
The feeling I have makes me want to massage the area under my left breast.  I catch myself doing it throughout the day.  Tender, even sore sometimes.
I'm going to take a course of prevacid fastabs, and if it doesn't clear up, go in for a scope.
Sound familiar to anyone?

I have that sensation all the time. I haven't had surgery yet, Monday!!! I have to actually sometimes put my hand under my breast and apply pressure to the area. And sometimes when I'm driving I have to put my left arm over my head to get relief. I have never asked any doctors about this...I've had it for a long time. If you find out let me know!!!

Consider the anatomy. How are your bowels working? Are you gurgling before you get the pressure?

The transverse colon comes across there, and then turns sharply down your left side. I get pressure there as if something is stuck in the "corner" as it goes around.

Sound right? Look at a pic to see if you identify with that. If not, proceed as you were.

I had the same sensations, and it turned out to be gallbladder attacks. I had my gallbladder out last fall with relief of the symptoms. Now I have similar sensations, but this time I think it's due to my hiatal hernia, which is scheduled for repair when I get an RNY July 15.

I have this too, I have an appt with my surgeon in August and I just figured it was something like trapped gas. Is yours worse when you sit down for a prolonged period of time? Mine feels sort of like a sore pulled muscle in that same region, its a really wierd dull type pain, and there is no gurgling or anything associated with it for the most part. I had my gallbladder out years ago so I know its not that, but if you have yours it could be that.

Thanks everyone. Trapped gas sounds like what it feels.  Not painful, just pressure, inviting massage.  It gets worse as the day goes on.  I have a sedentary job, so that might have something to do with it.  Or just being in the upright position, which would explain why I feel fine when I first get up in the morning.
I'll keep everyone posted on whether or not the prevacid does any good.  I'm also going to research gall bladder.  I'm happy and thankful - all this time I thought it was my pouch, and that my pouch was under my ribs.  What a cuckoo head, eh?  So this means that my pouch feels just normal!!!!  YAY!
In any event, I'm learning to ROOOLLLLLLLL with the waves.

Hope everyone enjoys fathers day tomorrow.

Your gallbladder is on the right side.  I would push for the scope to rule out an ulcer
