Sorry if I spelt alchol wrong, that's my one word I just never get right lol.

I'm wondering if they are the same as far as how most wls patients can/cannot tolerate them.

I got a trial supply of protien bars and lots have both in them. I haven't had my surgery yet and I'm just "window shopping" right now. Your information would be great.

I can tolerate sugar alcohols, in moderation, but sugar, not so much.

Sugar = empty calories
Sugar alcohols (for me) = bad, smelly gas

If you can tolerate them they are okay.  Your body doesn't digest the sugar in the sugar alcohol, so it is essentially calorie free.

I have avoided sugar like the plague and only ingest sugar alcohol when I want to get more activity in the restroom as subtle as that sounds lol.  I can ingest it (sugar alcohol)  the problem is sometimes you forget that it can be problemati****il it is too late.  So tread lightly with using things of this nature.  I had one sugar free russel stover peppermint patty wafer yesterday that was as much as I was willing to try in onr 24 hour period my tummy was already gurgling so this sort of offset that made me belch which always feels great when your tummy is noisy.

Sugar alcohol causes smelly gas for me.  Try to keep sugar to 9gm or less per serving.

As far as spelling - when you post, there is a box with a checkmark ABC.  That is the spellcheck.  It comes in very handy.
