Being hot or cold after the WLS - Poll
Most people report being cold after RNY. I am not. I'm the opposite. i am hot all the time.
So the question is:
I get more heat after I eat proteins or spicy food, or drink hot drinks or coffee. So - I am hot or normal most of the time, then i eat and feel warmer... much warmer. I am in menopause now - so I know that has something to do with that, but com on... some break...

have you been hot or cold after the surgery? COLD!! I used to ALWAYS be hot, but I still require my AC to be pumping all summer long even when some do not- which is odd.
when did you notice that? hmmm maybe a couple months after surgery late summer when I would normally be comfortable on the porch I was always FREEZING. People around me thought I was insane.

I have always been more cold than hot but it has gotten a lot worse after surgery. Right now I have tights, pants, cami, tank top, and a blouse. I also have on gloves and a scarf and a heater under my desk. And I live in Hawaii! I can't imagine living somewhere with actual seasons I think I might die.
have you feeling of hot - cold - changed since the surgery? no hot, some periods of cold...where I would have been either hot or comfortable before (I can tell by the way my coworkers react)

what is the room "comfortable temperature for you?" used to be I loved the thermostat (at home) set at 71-72...that was perfect. Now, I am cold at that temp. So, I keep it around 73 when my bf is home and when he is gone I up it to 74.
have you been hot or cold after the surgery? Cold!!!
when did you notice that? The day after surgery
what is the room "comfortable temperature for you?" 75?
I was always hot before surgery. Summer was the worst. We have A/C downstairs, but the upstairs doesn't work so its always hot. I was worried about staying in bed upstairs, but it was so nice & comfy! DH comes home from work and asks why I didn't turn on the a/c. Hmmm, it seems comfortable to me!!! I am a bit worried about winter. I wear a sweatshirt out if the temp drops below 70!
But at night, I seem to have trouble regulating my temps. Totally under covers and I get warm, any part of me out of the comforter gets cold!

have you feeling of hot - cold - changed since the surgery? Definitely! I haven't worn a winter coat or closed shoes in 20 years (Yes I'm THAT crazy lady who wears Birkenstocks in the snow).
have you been hot or cold after the surgery? COLD! And don't tell me it has to do with losing body fat because 10 pounds can't make that big a difference!
when did you notice that? Within the first week or 2.
what is the room "comfortable temperature for you?" Prior to surgery, I kept the temp set at about 72 and under 70 to sleep at night. Now, I frequently argue about the temp because when I'm home alone I turn it up to 80. I have a blanket that keep handy now and I bought my first pair of socks in living memory to wear.
I do notice that when I eat bread or cracker products that I do heat right back up to normal.
