I totally agree!

I was in golden corral once and a woman was trying to convince them to let her pay the child's price because she had lap band. It may have been awful to think, but I did anyway; I was thinking "just suck it up and think about all the times you ate MUCH MORE than the average patron". Bad, I know.....but I own it!  Why would anyone think a buffet is a good place for a WLS person to eat? If I have to eat at one (and I do....my kids love them and I love a NICE breakfast buffet), I pay full price, eat what I want and leave a good tip.

Why would anyone want to eat from the kids menu? I'd rather share with my hubby (we often share salad, entree and dessert).

Ouch!  But true!  Although my ex was tall and skinny and he was the one you had to watch out for.  The boy could EAT.

In general, I am learning to be ok with throwing away food.  I got that from my mother - who is not MO - and have spent my life trying not to waste food.  But now I am LEARNING to be ok with it.

I would not want to eat from the kids menu.  Most of the entrees I have seen are not things I would consider WLS friendly.  Mac and Cheese or Chicken Nuggets?  I also order from the menu and ask for a to go box right away.  When the food comes, I portion out what I will eat and put the rest in the to go box.

If I am travelling, I order something smaller or just leave it.  I don't feel I have to clean my plate anymore.

For everyone saying there is nothing good for you on the kids menu, have you ever been to Chilis?!  I took my 4 year old there for our special mother daughter day this weekend, and WHOA, they have some very healthy menu options, grilled chick breast with broccoli, grilled chicken sandwich with pineapples on the side, and a few others that I  can't remember!

I have not been out to eat yet, but I would probably just get a full portion eat what I could and bring the rest home, hubby would eat the leftovers I am sure.
As for buffet style places (I am not sure I can ever go in one again) BUT If you ask them for a to go container and put what you want to eat in there they will charge you by weight rather than the adult meal price.

Thanks to everyone for the GREAT replies!!!  I told my friend, who has the same surgeon as me, that the kids' menu is typically a bad idea due to it being unhealthy food choices.  She agreed but said that she wanted to get the kid's plate at Cici's and that they refused her because she didn't have one of these cards.  She was at Cici's because of her 3 yr old.  Anyhow, I had an appt. with our surgeon today and asked the nurse about the card and she handed me three that had our doctor's signature on the back.  I will give her those.  Thanks again for the awesome feedback and great information/tips!

P.S. Hey Holly!  Welcome to OH.com!  :-)
