I have to say, based on what you wrote, my instinct tells me -- disbelieve this woman.  Something about it (and all we know about it is what yo uposted)  just does not ring true.

Another way of putting this is -- It's a total stranger.  Why would you either believe or disbelieve her?

Did she know WHO your surgeon was BEFORE she claimed that surgeon as her own?

A stretched stoma could result in what she described, and is the ultimate "fail" of our type of surgery

If she didn't know who your surgeon was prior to mentioning his name, then I would ask around in the appropriate state forum (or mexico or foreign forum) to get other opinions about your surgeon.

Who is your surgeon?

You know what...I would not discount anyone's personal experience.  You have no idea what happened...but I would dig more rather than just call her a "Big Fat Liar".  Did you happen to notice what she was actually eating...if it was a dense protein or a soft food?  I can eat more crab legs than I care to admit...but dense proteins, like hamburger or chicken...there is a stopping point.  Look at it this way...you are bringing a story to a website and presenting it to a bunch of strangers...You should want to hear ALL the stories...especially from someone who is 15 yrs post op..rather than listen to a bunch of people that are either preop or haven't been off the table long enough for the sheets to get cold.

My sister is 3 years out and I've seen her eat 2 to 3 slices of pizza and I've seen her eat a bear claw.  So eating wise and being that far out from her surgery, she might just be able to pack that much away.  I would say (and I'm far from being an expert) that she might have just had a stomach bypass and not had part of the small intestine bypassed...that would also account for her weight gain (that is what a friend of mine had done that long ago, and yep, she's up more than she was before)

I had people telling me all kinds of horror stories in order to talk me out of surgery...but the bottom line was....I knew I needed it done!

As far as the "dirty instruments" I would say that there are times (not many) that the stuff they use gets contaminated, but it could also be that she had some internal issues or wasn't as educated as she should have been before having surgery.  Someone who doesn't do well with this surgery usually blames the surgeon for their failure...they think this is the "cure" for their problem.

It's not a cure, it's a tool.  If I use a hammer on a screw...will it work....no.  The tool needs to be used correctly in order to work...this tool needs to be used to change the eating habbits, and if she is scarfing down 2 plates of food, she obviously isn't using the tool she was given...twice...correctly.

The OP said she watched her scarf down two plates so I would guess she knew what was on the plates.

Well, the OP is preop so most likely she might not have know what KIND of food was on the plate,  whether is was protein...or carbs...In her eyes..she just saw food.

I don't care what it was.  2 plates of food isn't on the program.

And I think most people, particularly people who have dealt with weight issues, know the difference between a carb and a protein without having surgery.  Heck. I've known the difference for years!
