food question

 my soft food stage starts next monday. my nuts paper says that canned fruit in water, not syrup is okay. so i found dole fruit in water NOT even light syrup. mandarin oranges and peaches..theres about 5grams of sugar per cup. aside from the sugar...can i eat mandarin oranges?

They should be fine (in small amounts, of course).  Regular oranges can cause trouble not only because of the acid but because the membrane around each segment is very difficult to chew and digest.  I still have trouble with oranges and grapefruit unless I just eat the fruit and not the membrane (or whatever you call that stuff!).

DelMonte also makes a line of fruit packaged in fruit juice, called Naturals. They had mandarin oranges, pinapple, and different fruit mixes. Just be aware that their cups are larger and are 2 servings.

The Dole no sugar added ones are good too. I didn't have any specific issues w/mandarin oranges, though I do find almost any fruit these days gives me gas.
