Attention hanging bellies!!!

Where did you experience the most pain on your stomach after surgery? Mine is wierd. It's just above my belly button but to the left (if I'm looking down) and it's pretty freakin' painful at times. Mostly...when I'm standing. I feel like when I go to stand up or am walking, the fat stomach hangs too low and things are stretching. When I'm sitting down, it's not hurting.
The doctor said it's just all of the muscles that were cut and it's just going to take time to heal but holy crap...I feel like I have to hold my gut up when I'm standing or walking so the pain isn't so bad.  Is this normal? I heard usually the left side hurts most where they put the cameras and stuff (and believe me it hurts there too) BUT... I have this big saggy roll at my belly button and when it stretches I'm in agony. My skin itself is numb on the outside.

Just wondering if anyone else has felt this. I feel like I need a sling for my belly so it doesn't pull anymore. Being fat SUCKS!

I had the most pain from my lower left incision (the main lap-port site) but I also had that "pulling" feeling right after surgery. It was the worst when I was trying to sleep at night because I *SO* wanted to be on my side but my stomach fat would pull on the oposite side of whatever side I was sleeping on. I tried proppin myself with a pillow but it was still uncomfortable for a good week.

I still sometimes find myself holding my lower left belly if I am really moving or stretching because I get twingy.

So it's normal??? I have pain on the left side too where the lap port incision was. It's my biggest incision and looks the worst BUT... not the most painful.

I too have found my stomach is hanging more then it normally did.  my left side does bother me more then my right side.  My ribs are still sore and some pain still where some of my incisions are.  I have an adominal binder that helps but I dont always use it.  You might want to get one.  I got mine at a medical supply store.

If you wear the belly band it helps tremendously with that pain; plus the getting up and down. Its a little irritating, and I wore it over my shirt and nightgown at first so it wasn't up against my skin; but now I am wearing it to work everyday underneath my clothes.

They gave me mine at the hospital, but you can buy them at a maternity store or just Google belly band. Mine is just a big elastic band that goes from under my ribcage to over my hipbones.

Anyone wear spanx for this problem? Went out and bought a few sizes  for when I'm on my way down.... Or did anyone find support undergarments were worthless?

I experienced exactly the same pain.  I said that I felt that I needed a wheelbarrow to carry my stomach because I was constantly holding my stomach up if I were to walk etc.  It took about a week to pass. Now things are perfectly normal.
Spanx would be a problem because to try and get them on and off would be pure misery.  Just know that this too shall pass and you will be feeling great in no time.
Spanx for the way down is a terrific idea, and once you start to lose, things tend to jiggle, so spanx are a girls best friend..lol
FYI...The Avenue is having a big sale on some of their compression wear.  I went to the store itself, but I see it is also online.  I bought a support tank and panty.  What a difference!

After my gallbladder and my c-section I wore Spanx and they helped a ton with the pain.  I wouldn't see why the same wouldn't be true of the RNY.  I think I'm going to get a few of the tank tops.  Sadly I'm bigger now than I was after I had my daughter so that pair no longer fits.  They made a huge a difference when I was sleeping as I'm a side sleeper.  I also used my Boppy breast feeding pillow to hold against my stomach when I had to cough or sit up.  Make sure when you sit up not to lay on your back and sit straight up.  Roll to your side and lift yourself up with your arms.  I'm going to assume that will be a huge help afterwards as it was for me after those two surgeries.
