Sugars
When I was newly post-op, I was told that I should limit sugar AND sugar alcohols to less than 5g per serving in order to NOT find out whether or not I dump. I don't -- except when the sguar content is VERY high -- and can now (3.5 yrs later) easily tolerate (small amounts of) things with 15 g of sugar.
I was more sensitive to fat than sugar early on, but I never counted fat grams -- just tried to eat a low fat, low carb, protein forward diet early on -- and the only things that made me ill from fat were items I ate at a restaurant (e.g., mashed potatoes that I did not know had real cream in them) that did not provide nutritional info, so I honestly don't know how much was too much.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Every person differs and unfortunately you don't find out until you FIND OUT what your limit is.
But here's a good primer on sugar just so you know the basics:

And on Sugar Alcohols... go slowly. Sugar Alcohols do still cause some folks to dump and can have a nasty laxative effect as well. Small amounts of lower sugar alcohol products are likely not going to do harm, but since you are so newly out, concentrate on natural foods, protein first and don't invest too much in the sweets.
Oh Lord. One thing I didn't pay attention to was sugar alcohols b/c I was so focused on sugars, I forgot about the alcohol part!
At any rate, when I was about 3 weeks out, my husband bought me some Jell-O SUGAR free puddings and I ate one. Yep... no sugar, but sugar alcohols. I had no clue and I dumped like no ones business. Like I said earlier, I have very small quantities of sugar at any given time. I can't tolerate them well. Although, I did get brave last night and ate an entire Girl Scout Lemonade cookie. Took me about 15 minutes, but I didn't dump, so maybe things are starting to settle differently? IDK. I still don't really trust sugar or sugar alcohols. You have to be very careful with them.
