If You Had Surgery THIS WEEK, check in please!
I just want to see how we're all doing. I had mine monday and I am at home now, feeling great. I have some soreness on my left (over the major wound) but it is manageable. I am taking about 1tsp of liquid Lortab before I go to bed so I don't have soreness issues preventing me from sleeping. I started protein powder in soy milk yesterday, and was happy for the change. I even had a bowel movement last night - hoorah, I can do the Poopy Dance! My arm with the thrombus from the IV is getting better and better - the swelling is down although I can still feel the lumps. No regrets, no vomiting, no real pain. I'm feeling about 1000x better than I thought I'd be feeling, so I'm just over the moon right now. I think I am down 17lbs but I forgot to weight myself before I went into the OR, (and nobody else remembered either LOL).
Are we all at home now? Is anybody still in the hospital? How is your pain level? Did you have complications in the hospital? Do you have feelings of regret or remorse?
I just want to see if we are doing okay.
Happy Friday!

Hi, I'm glad to see you are well. I had my surgery on Tuesday and got home from the hospital Thursday night. My pain was not even present in hospital. I think the worst part was how nauseous I felt in the recovery room. That finally went away. I did have some what of a complication while on my second day there. I was looking forward to the ice chips because my mouth was so dry. Well when I got the ice chips I just kept on eating them and then the nurse told me if I wanted to take a vicodin (oral meds) I would have to eat 2/3 of bowl of soup and as much SF jello I could. Well needless to say I had horrible bloating and nausea and felt sick for about 6 hours. The nurse felt bad because she didn't give me the 1 ounce cups and I over did it. It was kinda nice knowing there was surgery done and if I over eat I will feel like **** Anyway I'm home now and doing fine. No regrets just some head hunger.
Chrissy - Don't be afraid - remember the reason you're doing it. The medical team is there to deal with your pain, and keep you comfortable so you can heal. TELL THEM if it hurts. I had a "pain ball" that was really interesting - it was attached to two of my lap incisions, and it bathed my surgical area in lidocaine, so it didn't hurt at all. The medication was not part of my IV, it was in a "purse" that I had to carry when I went walking and to the bathroom. I LOVED THAT THING! I was so scared I would start hurting when they took it away, but it NEVER hurt. The hardest part was when they removed the pain ball ports and had to pop the "skin glue" they used to hold them in place. That was like being popped with a rubber band, IF that bad. When I went to oral meds, they gave me liquid Lortab, which tastes like JET FUEL. I hate it. I'm so glad I'm not in pain because if I was, I might be tempted to suffer rather than take that garbage! LOL
I feel bad about how scared I was, and then, it really wasn't that bad!
Dani - OH MY GOSH I'm so sorry that happened to you! What was she thinking?! Why couldn't you have IV meds? I don't like it when WE (patients) know more about our medical condition than the nursing staff apparenlty knows. One nutritionist told my husband to go home and get me a bunch of slim fast and ensure, and that he should make sure I drink a whole can 5x a day - umm... WHAT?! Are you TRYING to make me sick? He just disregarded everything she said after that.
I told one nurse about my arm feeling funny, and she kept thinking I was trying to make up excuses to get the IV out. I wasn't - it was just HURTING and i knew something was wrong. Well, when my arm turned red and got swollen and my SURGEON chewed her out, she listened to HIM..;) Not that I was gloating or anything, but my arm had a BLOOD CLOT in it - I wasn't pretending just to get some attention.
I'm glad you're doing well, and I have nothing but high hopes for Chrissy!! She's going to be a star!

I had my surgery on the 16th. I stayed in the hospital for four days due to excessive draining from my draining tube. I had revision surgery so I also had my LapBand removed. I am feeling more comfortable every day. I am looking forward to the day when the swelling, bloated feeling lessens.

I had surgery on monday as well, got home yesterday and i feel like crap :( Allthough i am feeling almost human today! I had a bleed intraoperatively that has led to low hemoglobin, pastey white skin, dizziness and alot of nausea! My pain meds make me gag everytime i take them so i stopped them last night, rather live with the pain than the taste of that crud!! Pain wise im OK, real achey, insides feel wierd when im moving around or shifting! I have troubles lying flat, sleep way better when upright. lots of bruising at my surgical sites. Today i managed to eat a little pudding and some popsicle and it has me feeling tons better!!!! I just cant wait to feel some normalcy!! What are you guys doing eating wise..... how much and of what are you getting in to you??
I had surgery 3/21 and am doing very well. I do have pain on my left side which feels better with pain meds ( lortab elixer). I walk a lot and that is helping with the gas but my abdomen just feels so swollen and stone times I swear i can feel my "innards" moving. Feels like my son when I was 8 months pregnant and he was moving inside of me. I'm on clear liquids for one full week. I'm in no hurry to rush since I haven't had any nausea or vomiting..
Hello everyone i had my surgery 3/22 and is home feeling alot better, the first day was horrible but it gets bettter each day, I do have alot of bloating but i drunk some baking soda and warm water and the gas pain was gone after a short peroid of time...I dont no how much i have lost because i havent weighed myself yet..but i am feeling much better. Only complications i had in the hospital was the loveonox injections made me bleed out really bad so they stop the lovenox injections other than that, I am wondering if i had surgery cause im feeling really good......
