Chicken and pouch grouchiness

The first 3 times I had chicken it sat fine in my pouch with no problems, but the past 2 times not so much.  I am going to try once more today and if it doesn't I'm going to leave it alone for a while.  I chewed well and everything.  Has anyone else had this trouble?  I hate this because now I will have to rely on other things (including more protein powder) to get my protein in daily.  I hate red meat and seafood.  Chicken was my biggest hope :(

Yes, I've had this problem too, and waiting a couple of weeks to try again helped.  Now that I'm almost 4 months out, it seems I can eat practically anything.  It's a blessing and a curse, because knowing I CAN eat something doesn't mean I SHOULD eat it.  It's really rather good that we're so restricted in the beginning.  It gives us time to lose weight rapidly, and learn the correct portions and items to eat.  So if you have to continue to supplement for a while longer it's not a bad thing.

Yeah, chicken is a little risky for me too.  Two of the three times I've had "the foamies" have been after eating chicken.  However, I've also eaten it probably 20 times with no problem.  It's definitely safe for me if it's in some sort of sauce and chopped up.  You're still fairly early out from surgery, so no need to write it off at this point.  I think you're smart to give it a break and try again in a couple of weeks.

I had problems with chicken for a while as well. I stopped having it for a week and tried it again. I made sure it was very moist and it was fine. I took it very slow. Give your pouch time to recover and try it again in a week or two.

Maybe you should try turkey it has more protein then chicken anyway. To me it seems more versitile because you can use it as a substitue for ground beef. It also seems to be easier on the pouch

I usually stick to fatty chicken pieces like thigh or drummette and of course some type of sauce. I cut ALL meats though into centimeter cube pieces.... I do NOT bit into ANY meat nowadays.

Been there done this.....chicken was fine for the first few meals then I had to drop it from my menu for at least 4 months!  I am now back to eating it and it has become a constant standby for me!  This happens with a lot of diffeerent foods so don't get too distraught.  Just keep trying different things and if they go nuts on you skip it and try again.  Your tastes will continue to evolve as you go along.  Good luck and take care.

Thank you all.  I do like turkey, so I will try it and hopefully it will work better for me than chicken :)
