i'm to the point where i can definitely eat a large salad  (romaine/ dressing  maybe a few cucumbers  and feta)    in one sitting.  it's mostly  romaine and definitely the size of a large dinner plate.  it doesn't hurt or make me sick so i figure it's ok for my 'pouch'   .  does this mean  salad is basically a slider food and doesn't stretch the pouch?

thanks, jenny

I don't think it's a slider food so much as when you chew it up, there's nothing there. I make my salads with spinach and will use a big bowl of spinach. Sometimes I wilt it first in the microwave, and it will shrink down to maybe 1/4-1/2 cup?

Actually, that's what I love about salads.  You have a normal sized looking portion on your plate, but as you chew it down (counting to 30 or more chews) it becomes a very small mass in your mouth before swallowing.  It does take a bit of practice and concentration to chew thoroughly,   But you can have such variety in a salad.  I made one yesterday that I think I found on a post here.

Mixed spring greens, grilled chicken, feta cheese, sliced red onion, fresh strawberries, sauteed fennel (in a bit of olive oil), deglaze fennel saute pan with white wine vinegar and pomegranate juice.  Truly unusual and Yum!

I figure the chicken doesn't make this a slider meal.  I also try and eat most of the chicken and feta first.  If need be, the salad part remains on my plate if I'm full.
