Busted my goal.
April of 2009 I weighed over 500 lbs. I could not walk more that 20 yards without pain. Sleep was tough and I was at the end of my rope. I decided to get this bypass done and to do it right. I still log all of my food and exercise and make sure I do all the little things we are taught.
I concentrate on protein first. I eat small bites. I chew, chew, chew. I rarely snack and eat no sweets.
Exercise is at least an hour a day. I used to give the excuse I did not have time to exercise, but now it is my top priority. Consequently I miss some old hobbies. I think it is a fair trade.
My doctor said to take the first 6-9 months and really make the changes in your life that will make this a more permanent solution. I listened and acted on everything he said.
Today I weigh 199 lbs. I think I want to go up to 220 lbs, because I look better at that weight. I no longer take any meds, just my vitamins. Three weeks ago I had my first knee replacement and am anxious to get back to preparing for the other knee to be replaced. Then it is off and running on my new journey.
This takes a great deal of work and dedication. Bypass is not a cure, it is a tool. You determine how to use it.
Good luck and work hard
