I have already lost my weight, and have been able to do almost everything that was on my "I wanna..." list (ride rollercoasters again (I *love* rollercoasters), go whitewater rafting again, cross my legs, wear high heeled shoes without my feet SCREAMING in pain,  shop in a "regular" store, etc.).  One of the things I recently realizeds, though, is that what makes my post-op life so much better than my life as a SMO person is not even really about doing those things... it is about being able to take the stairs to my 3rd floor office every morning without getting winded, never having to even give a thought to where I can sit or whether or not I will fit someplace, never wondering if (or KNOWING that) the people whispering in public are talking about that HUGE woman (me), not being mortified when the nurse at a doctor's office asks me to step on the scale, not having to see the look on people's faces when I first meet them in a professional setting (because, sadly, many people DO have trouble believing that obese people can be intelligent), etc.

Don't get me wrong... being able to ride rollercoasters again is great (I recently renewed my season pass to King's Island again this year), and I have a pair of 3.5 inch heels that I love wearing, but what really makes my post-op life enjoyable is NOT having to deal with mountain of little things that can make daily living so exhausting for someone with a  BMI over 50 .

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I want to ride my horse as long and as hard as I want and not worry about hurting her.

I want to go to Mammoth Cave and be able to walk out of the cave, not ride the elevator.

I want to go to a concert/game and not have to worry if I'll fit in the seat.

I want to buy a new saddle, one that is "normal" sized.

I want to shop at Old Navy.

I want to chase my dog around the yard and not feel like I'm gonna die.

I want to JOG.
