just curious how much everyone remembers losing their first week post op. i had a weigh in 5 days before my surgery, and i think i lost 2 or 3lbs more before surgery but they did not weigh me before surgery or after. if i did infact lose 2 or 3lbs more before surgery technically i have lost 9 or 10lbs since last tuesday but tomorrow is my weigh in for my first post op appointment. that will be 9 days since my surgery day. i feel like i should be able to lose more the first week only because i lost about lb per day on my 14 day pre op diet so i feel kinda like i failed. but i know it will come off. so just wondering what everyones first weigh in was

I lost 7 lbs the first week. I started at 217, then day of surgery I weighed 208, then my 2 week post op visit I was 200 even. then the next week I was 195 then another couple of weeks later I am down to 188. So mine is slow and steady, but I love it that way. I dont look sickly, hair is less likely to fall out my surgeon said If it comes off slower and steadier, than losing alot too rapid. I am extra happy. Every week, I lose another 5lbs almost. Before you know it, I will be stopping the weight loss by maintaining it at a 150 or 160 lbs. I dont want to go any less cause of my height. Good luck gurl you are doing great!!

I had surgery on April 4th and lost 25 lbs the first 6 or 7 days and nothing since, so almost nothing in 10 days! Actually I think I gained 2 lbs how I don't know. Everyone is different though. But I am alot like you wondering why I havent lost any in the last 10 days :(

March 28 I started liquid diet. I was 231. They didn't weigh me before surgery or after surgery which was April 4. One week after surgery I was 217. Second week (Monday 4/18) post op I lost nothing. But I weighed this morning for some reason and from Monday til today I'm 215 down 2 lbs.

Just remember your body is adjusting so be patient.

You may be curious but this leads down a very frustrating path for mant because you start comapring your loss to that of others.  While you may lose the same as others you will lose faster than some and slower than others.  The only thing you should gauge you weightloss on is how much you weighed last mont or last week.

Thanks for saying what I was going to say and saving me all that typing!

Comparing yourself to others can lead to NOTHING good and ALL SORTS of bad!

I'm with the others, don't compare & worry that yours is like/unlike other people's.  It's unique for each of us.  I lost 21 pounds the first two weeks!  Then again, I had to stay on clear liquids the first two weeks because I was having issues of throwing up and diarrhea.  I have had plateaus as will you.  But, I do agree that slow and steady wins the race. I have not had hair loss or be extremely tired, etc.  My 6mo visit is next week, and I'm sure my labs won't look pretty.  While I'm very diligent about taking my prenatal vitamin and my B vitamins, I just forget to work in those 8 citracal petites.  So, I've been trying to drink my calcium with a supplement that I got at GNC.

But hang in there, you will be shocked at how much you lose one week and then not much the next.  Oh, and don't weigh yourself everyday; it'll cause a lot of anxiety!

Good Luck!!

So... if you already "kinda" feel like you failed (and at one week out at that... come on, girl, give yourself a BREAK!!!!!)... what would you have said and felt like if every person *****sponded to you had said they lost 15 or 20 or 25 pounds the first week?!?  That's a serious question.  As I said in my other reply, NOTHING good can come from comparing your journey to that of others... and, can, in fact, lead to all sorts of unnecessary frustration and even depression.

If you are expecting to lose a pound a day on a regular basis, you need to adjust your expectation, but that is simply NOT going to happen. Relax, do what you are supposed to be doing, and embrace the weight that is coming off at whatever rate it comes off!

PS: If you need some friend support, friend request me.  I get the posts on my Blackberry, but give me some time to respond as the internet on that booger is not the friendliest browser (can you see iPhone in my future? LOL)

My goal is 120 and definitely with in sight from where I am.  But, it hasn't been without its down times (I was on a 3 week plateau which was very frustrating.)  I just kept reminding myself I surely couldn't eat as little as we do and stay at that same weight.  Hang in there and quit bullying yourself!!
