so today started my purees. and low fat MELTED cheeses are part of it. tomorrow i am going to a yankee game and needed to take something with protein besides my 1 shake that i can tolerate cold, to eat that isn't warm. in 4 days i can have string cheese but i tried it tonight so i could at least have something with 8g of protein to eat tomorrow. let the string cheese get room temp a little, and then chewed it up really small, and took 15 minutes to eat it. went down fine, and i tolerated it fine. i ate the entire string cheese stick .75 ounces. i didn't get the full feeling but i was satisfied myself with just the 1 and didn't attempt to eat another. my question is, is 1 full cheese stick TOO much this early out? i mean i can eat 2oz at this stage so i guess i didn't over eat. but to me 1 cheese stick just looks so big in such a small pouch

I'm sorry, maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, but if you're not supposed to have string cheese for 4 more days, than ANY amount of cheese stick is too much.

You are only what, 9 days out? Maybe call your surgeon and ask THEM whether they think one stick is too much. I don't know that any of us here can be much help if you are deviating from your surgeons plan.

Please, don't be offended by this, but it is SO important to stick with the eating plan your doc sets up. I didn't get solids until week 9 so I can totally understand wanting the cheese and needing to get in more protein, but maybe taking 2 shakes instead of one and not eating anymore cheese until it's allowed might be a better option?

We were suppose to eat 2 oz per meal of protein but I have never eaten 2 string cheeses.  One is always fine with me.  Now, I sometimes eat it with something but still just have 1.  Lately I've been having one with roasted kale.  Just take it slow and chew well.  I also like all the other types of cheese that come in stick form.  I use them a lot when I am out and about.

I agree with you, 1 cheese stick does seem too big but if you chewed it up well, then imagine what it looks like all pureed up in your mouth. Wait, don't do that - it might make you sick. lol

On pureed stage, can you take something like refried beans or blender some ground turkey and put it in a little tupperware cup? You're doing the right thing by eating new things at home first before trying them out in the world.

I don't get to do softs or solids until the middle of May :( but happy to be starting pureed next week. Now that I'm not feeling horrible on liquids anymore I am SO looking forward to pureed foods! But take baby steps b/c we got baby bellies!!
