Cravings
I am 10 weeks out and craving things already. A friend of mine is on a liquid diet and has no cravings. Sweet is the biggest one but I also crave hamburgers and fried chicken and all those foods one needs to learn to avoid. I have been told to breathe thru the craving and it will go away. Not. Please help with craving management ideas that work. My weight has not gone below 270 in 3 weeks. I know stalls are common but I have to start losing again.
I totally understand because I crave as well. The thing that I have to remember is that I did not do all of this for nothing. I do not need what I crave. I do not need peanut M&M's or Peanut Buster Parfaits. I do not need supreme pan pizza from Pizza Hut, etc. I try to substitute and I realize that if I get one, I'm going to be mad because I could only eat a quarter of it and I would be done. That would make me really mad!LOL Hang in there, it will pass and you can substitute your cravings with good things. I'm learning how to make protein shakes that take away my cravings for sweets.
I don't know that there is anything I can tell you to make the cravings go away or pass-cravings are cravings and will probably always be there to some extent. I can tell you that the longer you can not indulge the cravings you will find your tastes change. I still get cravings but for less things--that hamburger and fried chicken you are craving-actually taste gross to me now since I don't eat that much fat at one time----we had a smashburger open up in town and after 6 months my family finally convinced me to go and try a burger-it was so greasy I had to use my napkin to wipe up the grease and even then couldn't eat more than 1/3 of the meat!
When I get a craving for something I always start with a glass of water or decaf ice tea because a lot of the time I may just be thirsty.
I still get cravings for sweets-but even those have changed since things often taste too sweet to me or not as good as I remembered. I do indulge my sweet cravings at times now but I find I can usually get by with 3 bites.
