i am a major herb fan. i take herbs and i drink herbal teas. i also take herb colon cleansers. i wonder if that will cut out after surgery.. also i  am chewing nicorette gum. sometimes it makes me feel like my belly is full of air , like i have to burp. but to continue as a non smoker , im wondering if we can chew this after surgery since it makes me feel that way . it really has helped me with smoking.. i hope my cravings go away all together after . im a mjor gum chewer . i bet i could chew 20 pieces of regular gum a day . its just an oral fixation for me. keeps my mouth busy.... hope that doesnt change
i really enjoy it.

I was told not to chew gum ever again because if you by chance swallow it it could get stuck. I have broken this rule a few times though since I have never accidentally swalloed my gum.

I still drink my herbal tea.  My pouch really loves warm liquid and I don't drink coffee so ...

I was told no gum, ever.  If you're really having trouble with that after surgery, I'd say get your tongue pierced.  Except that swallowing that would be worse!  Years ago before I had a "real" job, I had mine pierced.  I still miss playing with it.

some-one else told me to get my tongue pirced. i dont think i can handle that.lol. if im not chewing gum, im drinking something. and of course eating something. i chew my nails, ive never swallowed gum before on accident . i think i snorted it once . laughing to hard ...
im sure its just some kind of nervous disprder. but i have to have something to do with my mouth ..
thats why im so big. i quit smoking , so therefore now i eat even more. i bet ive gained 45 lbs since my weight loss journey has begun. im going to have alot ot lose before surgery i bet.. ive tried chewing on straws. sucking on candy, i tap my teeth together . . im going to have to find something for mouth entertainment. havnt came up with anything yet . lol

FWIW, my surgeon tells us no "colon cleanses" post-op.  I am not sure why it would be any different post-op (once everything is fully healed, of course) than pre-op (or for non RNYers)... so I suspect that she is one of the doctors who believes they are not needed and can be harmful in general.
