yummy protein bar

I wanted something cold and sweet, really something like an ice cream bar but decided to make do with a protein bar instead.  Atkins has these Advantage bars, mudslide flavor, which I think would be best described as rocky road.  So I stuck one in the freezer for 30 minutes.  It was absolutely delicious.  Just thought I'd share.

I loved those pre-op!  I can't have them yet, but when I can you bet I will be freezing it.  Their Indulge bars are really good too, although not much protein.  The chocolate coconut one is so yummy!  That was my treat pre-op to keep me from eating a candy bar.

That would be good frozen, too, huh?

I bought a box or two of those on sale and I thought they were only medium good.  But I will surely try them in the freezer - I didn't think of that.  I bet I will like it.

You know what my new found frozen dessert is?  Frozen bananas.  I found out by accident.  Every week when the bananas go too ripe - or riper than I like to eat them, I've been freezing them.  You know - I told you all my parents were raised in the depression  and "waste not, want not", right?  So I've been freezing them and using them whenever - for banana bread - for smoothies - or sometimes just feeding them to the chickens if they get too old.

ANYWAY, I froze the bananas a while back and was putting them in the blender with milk and yogurt for a smoothie - and it was good.  Then, once, I didn't have yogurt, so I just put milk, and it was good, too.  Once I put too many bananas and not much milk and it was better!  It tasted like banana ice cream.  Then, behold, one day I popped a frozen slice in my mouth (you know I still have that reflex) while about to put it in the blender and the thing was simply delicious!

Now - I freeze them sliced up in baggies in the freezer and just pop one out when I want a sweet snack - and it is just so good!

Before all of this discovery, I used to freeze them in their peels and remove the peels when I defrosted them.  Just a tip - now I know - I remove the peels and go ahead and slice them up and then freeze them.  It all works better.

Thanks for sharing Kelly - I have several of these bars in the pantry and I will put them in the freezer now.

I liked it better frozen than not.  I had one more of them left and I stuck it in the freezer too.

I'll have to try some frozen bananas.  I have some bananas in the kitchen now.  Maybe I'll go cut one up.

I bet you will like the bananas.  I don't like to eat bananas after they get black spots on them, but freezing them turns them heavenly!

you can dip older bananas in sugar free chocolate sauce and freeze on wax paper then put them in a freezer bag. yummy go to dessert.
