You know what my new found frozen dessert is? Frozen bananas. I found out by accident. Every week when the bananas go too ripe - or riper than I like to eat them, I've been freezing them. You know - I told you all my parents were raised in the depression and "waste not, want not", right? So I've been freezing them and using them whenever - for banana bread - for smoothies - or sometimes just feeding them to the chickens if they get too old.
ANYWAY, I froze the bananas a while back and was putting them in the blender with milk and yogurt for a smoothie - and it was good. Then, once, I didn't have yogurt, so I just put milk, and it was good, too. Once I put too many bananas and not much milk and it was better! It tasted like banana ice cream. Then, behold, one day I popped a frozen slice in my mouth (you know I still have that reflex) while about to put it in the blender and the thing was simply delicious!
Now - I freeze them sliced up in baggies in the freezer and just pop one out when I want a sweet snack - and it is just so good!
Before all of this discovery, I used to freeze them in their peels and remove the peels when I defrosted them. Just a tip - now I know - I remove the peels and go ahead and slice them up and then freeze them. It all works better.
Thanks for sharing Kelly - I have several of these bars in the pantry and I will put them in the freezer now.
I'll have to try some frozen bananas. I have some bananas in the kitchen now. Maybe I'll go cut one up.
