On Yahoo today they had an article about new superfoods.  Skyr is one that they talked about.

From yahoo:  "This Icelandic yogurt is technically a soft cheese, but its texture and nutrients are similar to Greek yogurt, and it includes the same basic ingredients: skim milk and live active cultures. Skyr is made using a centuries-old straining processes that removes the whey (liquid), which makes it creamy and thick (stick a spoon in it and turn it upside down – it won’t fall out!) without providing any fat. A single 6 oz container of plain, nonfat packs 17 g of protein compared to about 15 g in Greek  and 8 g in traditional yogurt."

Has anyone tried this?? I looked online to try to find any places that have this.  Whole foods apparently carries some.  For 6 oz plain: 110 calories/0 fat/6 carbs/22 protein

Looks interesting.  I love greek yogurt, so I would consider eating this if I ran across any.  Let me know if anyone has had this before.

FYI.  Fage 0% Greek yogurt has 18 gm protein in 6 oz.  I love it.

I love Skyr, and Whole Foods sell another good Icelandic yogurt, too, called Siggi's. They're both quite tart and thick, a lot like Greek yogurt.

Fruit flavored Skyr is the lowest sugar flavored yogurt I've come across that doesn't also have artifical sweeteners.

The only negative I can think of is the price!
