OMG I feel for you.  I certainly have been there.  This is what I recommend to help you give birth.  Go to your local drugstore and look for fleet liquid glycerine suppositories  They come 4 to a box.  They are tiny and probably contain no more than a couple of teaspoons of glycerin.  They work, I guess to lube things inside and assist you.  When I was constipated I tried everything but that is what got me moving.

Now for my routine:   I had the doc prescribe me Colace 100mg that I take twice a day, as a night time snack I eat 2 Metamucil fiber wafers (cinnamon spice is my fav), and every morning I have a package of miralax in my coffee and I take 2 gummy fibers that I found at the drugstore every morning as well before my coffee.

Let me tell you I'm moving now and I hope I never stop moving because I know the pain of stopping.

I hope you get well soon.

I would have to say use an Enema that will help break up the poo that is clogging you up. None of the other stuff will help untill you unblock that clog. Think of it as a clogged drian and you keep pouring drano down it all its going to do is cause pressure on it and hope it works but then there are some that you need a plummer for with one of those snacks to pull out the plug. Anyways I hope you get my point.

I am soooo sorry you are going through this. I have been there! TMI warning!!!

There was a nurse that posted earlier about having to manually remove the blockage. I have been to the point where that didn't even work. I could definitely feel it and my skin in that area was bulging out so much with the amount of poop that was just sitting there hardening. It was too much to remove manually.

The ONLY thing that helped any at that point was an enema or glycerin suppository. If you do the suppository keep it in as long as possible so it can dissove. I am so sorry you're having to deal with this.

After you do finally go, get on a regimine FAST so it doesn't happen again. Drink so much water you feel like you're going to float away. I also take MoM twice a day now and go at least every 3 days.

Good luck.
Loving my new life!  I'm ever so grateful...

I have had the same problem twice this week. I am not going to let it happen again so this is what I researched and got some tips from this site. Vitalady says to take Miralax, Magnesium Oxide or citrate, and I think colace stool softener.

I did this yesterday and took Miralax, Milk of Magnesia, and Colace and it finally passed. I have diarrea now, but I'll take that over that horrible pain.  I also make sure I get 3 servings of benefiber daily with my water or protein drinks.  I have also read to increase your fat intake, use butter, if you can handle it popcorn with butter on it helps too.

I plan to take the following daily and pray it helps:

1. Miralax-1-2x's a day
2. Colace 1-2 x's a day
3. Benefiber 3 x's daily
4. 400 mg. of Magnesium oxide with each calcium supplement-3 a day
5. Milk of magnesia, if I don't go in 48 hrs.

Good luck, definately get a specific stool softner and at this point you might need a suppository as stated above!!

Oh and I am also cutting back on my cheese and taking a probiotic, called acidophilus.

Once you get things moving again try supplementing your vitamin regimen with magnesium supplement, that and I make sure I eat salad almost every single day....  Hope you feel better soon but if you can't get it out yourself go the ER.

I sympathize.  My constipation was so bad that I gave myself a hernia from straining so hard.
I pretty much follow Vitalady's routine and it has been much better.  I have to do it everyday, even when I don't have a problem or I soon will.
Everyday I take
2 stool softeners
2 magnesium oxide 500 mg (I think this is what really helped)
2 Fiber Choice
1 Probiotic
1 dose Miralax

I also eat salads and vegetables as well as fiber.  I also try to make sure I have enough good fat in my diet.
