MH is 3 weeks post op and has an odd complaint.  He says when he's talking a lot (like at work) he feels an odd straining feeling and a small amt of tightness in his chest. Any thoughts?

That type of symptom should be discussed with your doctor for sure.  Wt loss surgery shouldn't cause chest issues.  It may be nothing, but if it was me, I'd have it checked. I had dizzy issues at 8 months post op and passed out a couple of times at home.  I started with my PCP and after a few visits and tests, was referred to a cardio doc. I had a low bp issue that was resolved with a pacemaker implant. DAVE

Yes. I felt like I had tightness in my chest as well. Whenever I felt it, I rested. It's more than likely gas-pain. And, yes, it did go away (I'm 5 weeks post op). Oddly, gas pain from when the surgeon fills the patient up with air can travel into the back, chest, and even cause arm pain. Strange, but true. perhaps your hubby isn't resting enough. Three weeks back at work may be too soon. Have him talk to his surgeon ASAP if the pain doesn't go away soon... he may need a little more time off.

DIscomfort after surgery should never be ignored. That's what doctors are there for!
