NOW if I can only get the protein in order I'll be good because I'm still struggling with that. Any suggestions??????????
but... I couldn't find info about the vitamins in the powder.. what type A it is? calcium? iron? magnesium, D, etc? (page not available...)
And 2 scoops a day sounds great... but.. do you know we can only absorb app 500 mg of calcium at one time? so taking 1000 mg (one scoop) your body can only use 500... the rest - most likely will get you constipated... IMO.
Also- iron - when taken with calcium- most likely will not get absorbed and again - will constipate you. (not really a good thing).
I don't see enough Vit D. Most of us need much, much more...
Overall - it something looks too good to be true.. it usually is... sorry to burst your bubble...

Dr Barker and highly recommended it and he is one of the best bariatric surgeons in Dallas. New Life Bariatric items are made especially for bariatric patients. Some people in my class yesterday that are 6 months to 7 years post-op have been taking it and when they got there numbers back they were right on target so I'm optimistic and when I get my blood work numbers at my 6 months check up....that will give me the nea or yea i need!
Here is the info taken straight from the container
Vitamin A Palmitat 5,000 iu
Vit C (as Calcium Ascorbate and Acorbic Acid) 60 mg
Vit D-3 (cholecalciferol) 3,000 iu
Vit E (as d-alpha tocopheryl) 100 iu
Vit K (as phytonadione) 120 mcg
Thiamine 3mg
Niacin 20mg
Vit b-6 4 mg
folic acid 400 mcg
vit b-12 300 mcg
biotin 300 mcg
Pantothenic acid (as calcium pantothenate) 20 mg
calcium (from calcium citrate & ascorbate) 1,000mg
iron (as iron amino acid chelate) 18 mg
magnesium (from magnesium oxide) 400mg
iodine (from kelp) 150 mcg
zinc (from zinc chelate) 150mg
selenium (as selenium Kreb) 70 mcg
copper (from copper chelate) 2 mg
BTW: not only see and look at the results - but make sure you track the vit5amins - minerals blood work over time to see any trends. If you see the numbers are dropping - you will know that the supplementation is not optimum and eventually you may develop deficiencies.
Once some of the numbers dropp - it is very difficult to get them up again.

Believe me I know all that. I'm new to bypass but not new to bariatric surgery. I've had 2 lapband since 2005 so I know about supplements and deficiencies. As I stated... there were people in my class that are up to 7 years post op and they have been taking this for awhile and their numbers are on point. Bariatric Doctor Stephen Boyce is the brain behind New Life products and he is also a top notch surgeon. He did my cousin bypass 9 years ago.
Anyway hey, I was just putting it out there for people that might be struggling with supplements like me. If what you are doing works for you then stick with it!
Deuces!
Not saying this is the case with these particular items, but you are going to find that there is a whole world of crappy products (including the protein "bullets") that are MARKETED as being "perfect for bariatric surgery patients". That includes some vitamins.

The iron is a chelate (absorbed in the duodenum)
Zinc, and iron and calcium don't like to be consumed together. If consumed together the calcium wins and the rest gets passed through without being absorbed.
