Centrum are good. But - you need extra iron, calcium,  magnesium and vit D.  I don't thing there are any multi =- even the prescription multi that will contain all what we need.

Iron - has to be taken by itself, and never with calcium or other minerals.  Not with coffee or black tea. (they also block absorbtion of iron). you need C to be able to absork most irons. The iron carbonyl - is best for us if you can tolerate them. It casues the least problems (cramps, irritation, constipation, etc). So you are fine with the one from Vitalady.
As for A - some of us need extra. I do. I started taking Vit A 10,000 3-4 times a month.  My skin start looking much better.
Vit D - I take the D3 -  additional 10,000 IU 3-4 times a week in summer, 10,000 IU 6-7 times a week (almost daily) in winter.
I get B12 injections 2 times a month or more often than that.

I take extra magnesium and calcium.

Unfortunately ... after RNY some of us need to supplement extra vits.

I have been taking Centrum chewables for almost 4 years and my labs are just fine except for my K (I only take the Centurm, some extra D, and some extra K (the K thing is uncommon)).  If only your A and D are down, I don't understand why your doctor would condemn the Centrums completely instead of just having you supplement your A and D (you're going to have to supplement the D no matter WHAT multi you take!)  You said the surgeon wants a "bariatric" vitamin, but most of them are very similar/comparable to the Centrum  (except in price!) and a couple of the so-called "bariatric" vitamins have significantly lower levels of vitamins than the Centrum!  My guess is that your surgeon has never bothered to compare the labels.  Did he suggest a particular one?  If not, I would ask him wnich one he thinks IS acceptable.... and then, either way, compare the Centrum to the "bariatric" vitamin.  I think he is giving you bad info based out of ignorance.

If a 2-year post op is hospitalized getting "infusions", did you ask the NUT what kind of infusions?  If it is iron, that has nothing to do with the Centrum, because you are already taking a separate iron (and probably will need to, no matter what multi you take). I  also find it very suspicious that the only multi-vitamin your NUT wants you to take is from a small company.  Sorry, but with all the potential widely available vitamins (s)he could suggest for you.... it sounds like they have some kind of financial deal (kickback) going.

I cannot address the iron since I don't take any and don't know anything about it.

I have had a really hard time finding the right combintion of vitamins to take in order to keep my levels up. After 9years I finally found something that works and has me healthier then ever. I take 2-3 Visalus Vi-shape Protein and nurtrition shakes a day along with my Vi-pack and then 2 extra iron pills and my monthy B-12 shot.

I agree that just like everybody's doctor has a different opinion we also have different ways our bodies respond to products. You have to figure out what works for you.

I was taking integra F for the last 2 months.  I am able to maintain my iron but not increase my levels.

Integra F has ferrous fumarate and polysaccharide iron complex which my weight loss surgeons recommend.

I think the bariatric vitamins are just expensive centrums.  If you go on the Celebrate and bariatric vitamin page and look at the nutritional guideline they are almost identical when you compare them to Centrum.   Very little difference in the values.

You may need extra A along with the Centrum, OR you can get something like Bariatric Advantage or Celebrate.  You'll probably  need extra D no matter what multi you use.

As far as iron, I disagree with them.  I recommend carbonyl, NOT ferrous fumarate.  Carbonyl IS absorbed better.

The thing is, lots of docs and nuts don't know much about vitamins.  You have to decide who you want to believe.
