5 year WLS anniversary (with pictures)
I don't post a lot, but have followed this forum religiously for almost 5 years. This past Mother's Day was my 5 year WLS anniversary, so I have a couple of pictures to honor the occasion! I am grateful every single day that I had this surgery. I have learned so much about myself and a lot of learning still in front of me. I have recently started power walking with a friend and we have completed a 10K and a 5K plus have another 5K on the books for this month. Regular exercise was the last barrier for me and I am encouraged that I've stuck with this long enough now to feel great about it.
The first picture below is my "day of surgery" (260 pounds) and "five years after" picture (142 pounds). Maintenance is hard (huge understatement)! I had a 36 pound gain over the last couple of years from a lot of stress in every direction, but I have taken all but 12 pounds of it off and know I will get back to original goal weight again soon!
The second picture is a before and after with my son, who will be 18 next month (see reference to stress above, haha). We have both changed a lot in the last 5 years!
