Am I just lucky?
OK, I've been following the board for months pre-op, preparing myself for all that could come. But since I've had my surgery.......everything has just been EASY.
I hurt for a couple days but by 1 week, I felt "normal"......no fatigure, nothing. If it weren't for the shocking "full" feeling I get after eating a half of cup of food, I'd never know I had surgery!
I've tried lots of different foods and NONE of them cause me to feel bad. I have read so many time that someone can't "tolerate" this or that, that someone's pouch doesn't like this, dumping on that, etc. I keep waiting for SOMETHING. Guess that's silly......but I guess I just expected it after reading so much on the board.
Are there others that are JUST like me and haven't had any troubles at all? Granted, I'm only 2 weeks out. Knock on wood, eh? I'm thinking it's common....but the board is just often a place where people vent, ask for help, discuss problems, etc?

Was and still am just like you, nothing ever bothered me and I got everythiing in I am supposed to, I am now 6 weeks out and all still going great. People dont usually post how well they do just when they have an issues so maybe there is more like us you just dont hear it as much lol Hope the rest of your journey is just as EASY
I haven't had major problems. I haven't had any nausea, throwing up, reactions to food, at all.
I got my fluids in pretty well even in the beginning. Have gotten my protein in. Love my protein now. Had foamies 2x because I ate too fast and didn't chew well enough. I haven't had a real stall for over a week.
There are many of us out there who are pretty much problem free. We just don't ask for help so you don't see us posting as much.

In regards to pain, I kept an ice pack between my boobs for the first couple days, but after that, I wouldnt have even known I had surgery. No pain... I signed a paper while i was in the prep room for my Dr. to do some procedure in which I cannot remmeber the name. He said if he did it I would not have any pain, and by-golly he was right. I did however have buyers remorse for a few weeks, but I got over it after a few people on this msg board set me straight.
I never even touched the pain meds, and never needed Tylenol. I even went back to work about 2 weeks later... and the only reason I waited 2 weeks was because I had the drain for week 1, and was prohibited from driving. I had some dizzyness week 2 because of the liquid only diet, so i decided to wait. I dont eat anything I am not supposed to, so I dont dump...
But yah, Im like you. No trouble, no pain, no anything. Just the full feeling after taking a few bites, and a slight sensitivity to really cold beverages.
As my surgeon keeps telling me, "that's the way it's supposed to be!"
I didn't have any problems at all for about 2 months after surgery. Then I found one food that made me instantly ill -- navy beans and ham. I've had a couple of issues with food getting stuck that are my fault due to not chewing well enough or taking too large of bites. But frequent nausea or vomiting, no, and I've had a couple of bites of sweets with no problems -- enough to know I don't dump.
I think that most people are like us -- they don't have significant problems after RNY.

I laughed at first when I read the title of thise post, and I said to myself OMG is she asking if she's normal cause she had no issues, and I was right! I've been wondering the SAME THING for a month now. I felt normal after surgery, no issues at ALL. Nothing with what I've eaten. I even asked my surgeon last thursday if he just stabbed me in 6 places and said I had surgery but really didn't do anything. I was sore for the first 3 days that i was in the hospital, after that everyday I woke up feeling better. By day 5 I felt like I didn't even have surgery. The onyl time I felt uncomfortable was when I tried to sleep on my side. I couldn't sleep on my side for 10 days but other than that I felt normal. I've had no real issues except the last few days I noticed I need to take a stool softener until I get more fiber. Otherwise, I'm just like you. hopefully it stays this way
You are actually in the majority. I have been concerned for a long time (and have often posted) about how this forum gives people an inaccurate perception of life immediately post-op. The majority of the people who are early post-ops who post here are doing so either because they have questions (we ALL have questions) or -- more frequently -- because they are having probelms and need help or support... and that's partly what the forum is here for... but they are in the MINORITY. The majority of people have very little trouble post-op.
I have only dumped three times in almost 4 years (only once seriously), and did not throw up at all until I was 18 months out (and ate some dry chicken too quickly). I have never had anything get stuck and there are only 5 foods that I have even tried to eat that make me at all ill.
