Gross TMI
If you use the enema, be sure, that when you squeeze it all in, you try to hold it. I know it sounds like it may be hard, (pardon the pun) but when you hold it in as long as you can, it has time for the contents of the enema to absorb into the stool and make it softer to get out and allows it to break up a little easier.
Trust me, you can do this. I had to go to the ER because I was so backed up that I got nauseous from just eating 2oz of greek yogurt. When the nurse came in the enema, I almost had a heart attack!! It was about as big around as an IV bag and TWICE as long, filled up to the top!!! I don't know how all that liquid got up in there, but it did. She told me to hold it in as long as I could. At least for 5 minutes. She said I'd know when I couldn't hold it in any longer.
I ended up holding ALL of that enema in for 15 min!!! When I finally "went" nothing came out though, except the enema fluid. They sent me home with some prescriptions and gave me 2 Dulcolax pills. About an hour after I got home, I finally really had to go. I had to go because there was enema fluid "up there" that I did not get out at the hospital. It had, had time to absorb and soften the turd by then. I did some rockin' and sweatin', but it finally came out and I felt SOOOO much better!! So, I've learned that when you "hold" the enema it works better.
Make sure you drink as much fluids as possible after the MOM. Make sure you get yourself on a good regimen of stool softeners, fiber, etc. Good luck!!
