Real food tomorrow cautiously excited
Ok tomorrow I am 2 weeks post op, on my plan I get to have 1/2 scrambled egg, 1/2 piece of toast, some tuna and some crackers. Can't wait to get away from cottage cheese, yogurt and applesauce. Also on my plan no more protein drinks...ever. Here is my problem. I am really hungry and I'm worried that I will be tempted to eat more than I am allowed (only 1/4 c. per meal). I really hope I will feel full on real food. Any thoughts or advice. I know I have to chew chew chew!
Not to panic you, but I'm 3.5 weeks out and I don't feel full yet. I think it's because I am mostly eating soft foods. Right now I can have 3/4 of food and I will stop eating if my pouch grumbles. That is what I use as a signal right now.
I have read that as you heal you will start to feel full again.
On the flip side, my sister had surgery and is 1 week out and she feels full after 3 Tbsp of food (which is what her plan says she can eat at this stage.)
I think a lot of it is based on the actual RNY you had and the fact that everyone's body is different.
Edited to add: What I mean by actual RNY is that every surgeon does something a little different and I think that affects how you feel after.
Good luck!

Keep in mind that your "hunger" may just be "head hunger" and not real hunger.
I tell people that I don't have a "hungry" anymore (for a couple months anyways) but boy do I love to smell something delicious!
I think I have learned to smell something (brownie, cake, fried something) and be satisfied with just the scent.

Just as a caution, eggs can be VERY difficult for some people. Don't overcook them and make them dry and as someone else said, put in a little cheese if you can. Take a bite and wait at least a couple minutes then take another, repeat.
You will make a mistake and eat too much at some point due to inattention because you haven't re-learned your bodies "stop" signals yet. It will hurt, you may throw up, and it will SUCK. But, use it as a good lesson on what NOT to do.
Any plan that says "no more protein drinks ever" at 2 weeks out is FOS if you ask me. There is almost zero way you will be able to get all your protein from food at this point. So, your choices are to cont to do shakes, eat continuously through they day, or live with the lack of protein until you are able to eat more volume.

NO more protein shakes ever???? EEKKKK. I am only one week out and that is how I am getting all of my protein. I enjoy them and planned to use them as a great sourse even when I can eat solid foods. I t is easier for me at work. My Doc said that is fine us long as I am getting enough in. So I guess my question is why?
