Thank you!  I put in a call to that therapist today.  I'll call again in the morning and set up an appointment.  If nothing else, maybe she can guide me to somebody who specializes in food issues.

Thanks again!

May I ask what med you are taking?

I learned (the hard way) that Zoloft needs to be continually crushed in order for me to receive the full benefit, post-op.

That said, you certainly have a lot going on environmentally... but still, if all that is happening PLUS your meds are not giving you the full effect... YIKES!

I take lamictal and prozac.  My docter requires that all pills be crushed forever so I crush the lamictal and dump out the prozac.  I did NOT do well with zoloft.  I've got a call in to my psychiatrist to see about a med change.  Thanks!

GET THOSE MEDS LOOKED AT ASAP!    Maybe the dosage needs changed or maybe you need to add/get a different med.      You know you need to do it because it's not going to pass.   Ok, I"m saying this from my own experience, maybe you've had a different one, but everytime I waited because "it will pass" it didn't resolve on it's own.   I think the therapist is a good idea, but I would get your meds looked at first, that will at least start getting you feeling better.

You've got so much on your plate right now and have been through so much in such a short time!    That's a lot to deal with and it's so much easier to deal when you don't have that black cloud of depression following you around.    Best of luck, I truely hope you can find a path thru this!!!!!!!

Depression sucks ass!!!

Thanks!  I've got a call in to my psychiatrist.  Hopefully I'll get in to see him in the next week or so to see about my meds.  I also called a therapist but they're closed for the day.  I'll call back in the AM.

Thanks!

Carrie, thank you for having the courage to reach out. I know that it is not easy to talk about depression and how everything related to food intake in the past. Just remember that, it is in the past. You have made such great strides since then and you are introspective; not just existing but living. The person who did your psych eval should be able to give you good referral to therapists that specialize in eating disorders. Just give her a ring and request referral. Good luck to you in all that you do!
Love & hugs,
Suz

I just wanted to second what one of the other people said.  I also found out that I have to semi-crush my Seroquel to get it to work otherwise it just passes through without working.

My support group has been a God-send.

There are a lot of referral services out there for therapists.  You should interview them before you decide on the right one.  Perhaps someone who specializes in eating issues -- because s/he might understand more about what we're going through.

Also the hormone issues and TOM issues are REAL and they stink.  Hang in there!

Thanks!  I think I'll start out with the therapist I know then see what she thinks.

Thanks!

Exercise has really really helped me with depression, pre and post surgery. I can imagine with losing your job, going through major surgery, plus your horses - that is three major life events that are stressful and sad.

I understand about the not eating too. At times, it seems easier to me just NOT to eat or deal with it. I don't want to feel bad, don't want to think about what i can and can't eat, etc.

I would start exercising ASAP, consistently. It will take you about 7-10 days to see the difference but you will. And I"d also definitely look into meds and a new therapist as soon as you can, especially if there is an end to the insurance.
