XP: Necrotic wound pics
I'm having trouble attaching pics to my post so: you have to click on the user name under my avitar picture to see them.
Last Monday my PS debrided an area of dead skin at intersection of vertical and horizontal TT incisions leaving a 1 inch by 1 inch by 1/2 in deep hole. I've been doing irrigation 2X a day with "wet to dry" dressings.
I'm sure the PS will do more work on it Monday. Do you think he will take small black dead area around belly button??
Let me know what you think.
I'm getting 100 oz fluid, 130 gm protein daily, all Vits and supplements, walking, getting 10 hrs sleep per nighy.
Thanks for your help.

Yes, he will need to cut away anything that turns black. It is already dead and can cause the area around it to die was well if left in place. When my entire tummy tuck incision turned necrotic, it took three long rounds of debridement to get rid of all the dead tissue and skin.
It's a distressing process, but hopefully your area will remain small. The scars that I have now look like burn scars, but my wound area was much larger.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Looking more closely at the area on the top of your belly button... that MIGHT just be some dried blood on a scab rather than necrotic tissue. If it just a scab it will likely stay the same. If it is necrosis, it will slowly enlarge (and the surgeon will be able to tell which it is, of course).

That depends on how you define "common". It happens a lot, though, because the blood supply to our skin is so compromised by being stretched out. The area of Penny's -- where the horizonatl and vertical incision meet is the most common area on the tummy. I cannot even publically post the pictires of my necrotic wound (my entire TT incision broke down and I had a huge wound) because it is so gross looking... I'm sure people would report me!)
Thigh lifts are notorious for having the incisions turn necrotic because the skin is so delicate and has been stretched out SO much in most cases.

I think thigh skin is also very susceptible to being pulled and the wound coming undone because of the stressors on the thigh skin. I had a tiny growth removed from my inner thigh and while it never got infected, it took two months to heal, and left a scar three times the size of hte growth itself.
No way I'm going to do that to my thighs.

LL - thanks for getting the pics over to my posting.
The plastic surgeon told me I had about 7 pounds of extra skin in each thigh and buttock. I think he'd like to do a thigh lift (inner and outer).
After the TT and problems in arm pits - I think I'm gonna pass! I can wear pants that hide the giggling of the thighs and if my skin is prone to circulation problems, I don't want to chance it.
I'm sure my tummy won't get as bad as Lora's but it is a "downer" to have to mess with it.

Wow. That's certainly something to think about. I'm a young 'un (twenty one) and have lost 50 pounds in under a year before with no excess skin, so I'm hoping against hope that I won't have to get plastics -- but definitely not counting on it. I have a surgeon's appointment on Wednesday, so I'll discuss this issue with him then. Thanks for the info!
