OK I must ******d or something!!
I had my surgery a few days ago........June15th to be exact and it has been such a pleasure for me not to be hungry. That was my one wish from my dr. ....I said to him I am tired of being hungry, tired of thinking about my next meal!! He just laughed and said that is a common problem.
I am happy drinking my protein shakes, broths, etc. For me it is such a wonderful freeing feeling!! Does this make sense to anyone or am I a nerd?? LOL
I am getting my 60 oz. of protein and today I walked an hour with my hubby and feel great. No more pain meds.........don't need them!! I'm a nerd, huh? My next dr. appt. is this Tues. afternoon haven't weighed myself yet..........I will wait for them to have the honor of that. -Holly

Holly,
I was also like that. Like 3 or 4 days after my surgery I walked at the mall and then 2 1/2 miles near my house. I had lots of energy the first week. The second week I payed for it. Take it easy. as far as the protein I just drank til I got full. I didn't push things.
When I went to pureed and soft food I was very cautious.

Congrats on this next exciting step in your journey!
Nope, not a nerd at all. Being released from that prison of always thinking about food is very liberating. Enjoy it!! Sounds your recovery is on the same road as mine was - textbook, and that is a very good thing.
just a note of advice: stay away from the scale at home; it is NOT your friend and will only frustrate you. at the max, weigh only once a week and not the first week -- your body is adjusting and probably holding onto some fluids still from the surgery and you may not like the number at all. Dont let it bust your bubble, just keep moving forward. You're doing great with the walking.

No..no.I was the same way. Being freed from having to "diet" and look at food as "bad" or "good." Enjoy this while it lasts. This is your chance to teach yourself how to feed yourself so that you eat to live rather than live to eat. That way when you do get your appetite back (and you will) you will be trained to make good descisions without a second thought. Remember you (we) are so blessed to be getting a chance to start over and not mess up or metabolisms.
Holly,
I actually thought something was wrong when I went for my 1 week post op. I asked him... I just DO NOT feel hungry, is that normal? He said yes.
It IS an amazing feeling. Being able to go out, to a festival, a show, the pool and not worry about if I ate yet or not so I'm not hungry. It's almost like it lets you enjoy LIFE and not care about the food. I am 4 weeks out on Tuesday and I STILL feel like I just ate a Thanksgiving dinner. I am full up to my eyes, I swear. Loving it too! Went to a festival last night and brought my water botle... drank all night and then danced! Yep, I said danced! (I use to hide on the sidelines)
Enjoy the feeling while it lasts, but also remember to get in your calories as you get farther out. Even if you don't feel hungry, get your body set to a schedule to eat. It's extremely important I was told by my NUT. :)
