Really tired
I will be 3 weeks out from my rny on Wednesday this week. Here's the thing: I am so easily worn out. Like there have been 2 days since surgery I havent taken a nap. I took a shower ( which kicks my butt most days ) and went to Super Target and walked around and came home and crashed for like 3 hours. Is this normal? I am so in trouble for when I go back to work if this is the case. I have 2 more weeks off and I need to recoup f-a-s-t!!

I wasn't up to much of anything until week 5 but foolishly went back to work after 2.5 weeks so for that interim, just getting ready for work would wipe me out. Then hit week 5 and my energy came back. Since then I've been exercising about 4 days a week and not feeling fatigued. I take a bit more B-12 and iron than my surgeon recommended since the 1 month labs were a tiny bit low. Stay up on your liquids & protein - it really does make a difference!!!!

You are 3 weeks out from MAJOR surgery. Yes, being tired is normal. Rest when you need to. Get your fluids and protein in.
I really think my energy level came up when my D3 level came up. Did they do your's before surgery? It needs to be between 80-100 and if it isn't, increase or start some, like 2000 a day at a min.

What you are experiencing is completely normal. I am 10 months and still need a nap on my days off. I just visited my family up north for a week and there wasn't one day where I didn't take a nap for atleast 1-2 hours. One day, my sister and I even took a 4 hour nap together and I was still able to sleep at night with no problems. When it's time to go to work your body will adjust and you will learn to honor it by doing things like going to bed earlier.
I have been working out 5 days a week since my physician released me for exercise (about 4 weeks post op) and my workouts have intensified over the weeks and months. Much of what you are experiencing is the fact that not only did you just have major surgery, but much of it will continue over the next several months because your body is getting so few calories. Your trying to force it to do the same amount of work on a whole lot less fuel. So my biggest piece of advice with regard to this topic... HONOR YOUR BODY! If your body is begging for a nap and you are in a position to do so then take a nap. Even if it's only for an hour. Even if it means the laundry doesn't get done or perhaps you can nap while the load is washing... Whatever you need. Sleep is essential to healing, and its essential in weight loss weather you are a post-op or a non-op.

I think that's normal, I'm 4 weeks out and I'm still very tired. I have the naps up about a week and a half ago, but I'm going to bed at 9:00 pm, on the dot! Shopping trips, etc wear me out too. I found that the thing that helps me with the energy is to push myself just a little further each day. And I worked on trying to consolidate my nap times and my bed time.
