For those who have Rita's italian ice in their area, have you ever tried the sugar-free ices? The nutritional info says the kids' size (7.5oz) has anywhere from 27-49g carbohydrates but they don't give the breakdown of WHAT carbs, just that it has no sugar and no fiber. Soooooo..... 49g of sugar alcohols? I'd be pooping for days....
Looking for opinions & reactions b/c I fear risking trying something with those stats....

I think it depends on the flavor.  A friend of ours owns a Rita's here I'll have to ask him tomorrow.

I know the fruit ones have real fruit in them so that is probably where a lot of it is coming from.  They also sweeten with Splenda, I'm not sure if that makes a difference though.  I'll see if I can find out tomorrow how much sugar alcohol and all of that.  I've never had an issues with them upsetting my stomach.  I've had a few since surgery, mainly the SF peach and SF Tangergine but neither one has made me sick and I'm usually pretty sensitive to SA.

I was curious about the nutritional info for these last summer. According to their website, the carbs are primarily from sugar alcohols:

Nutritional FAQs

Why are there carbohydrates in the Sugar-Free Italian Ice?

The majority of the carbohydrates in these flavors come from ingredients such as sugar alcohols and maltodextrin, which is derived from corn. Sugar alcohol and maltrodextrin contribute calories and carbohydrates, but no sugar. These ingredients are important in maintaining the consistency and stability of our products during freezing.

FWIW: I started to feel a bit ill after eating about half of a small one and I am not particularly sensitive to sugar alcohols (but there are some that bother me more than others, and the other FAQs indicate that they use different sweeteners in different flavors)

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I have Rita's SF ice a couple of times a year. I am VERY sensitive to sugar alcohols and usually con only finish about 1/3 of a small. Can't say it's given me any problem.
