Drinking While Eating/Using Straws
Learning to not drink with meals was probably one of the hardest things I've done. I just don't have a drink in front of me while I'm eating if I can help it. I have been known to take a sip or two during my meals if something is too spicy or if it feels like it doesn't want to go down. I don't do that often though.
As far as straws go, I've been drinking out of them for a while. I think I waited until I was around a month out before I did, but it makes it easier for me to get my fluids in and my protein down. I can see where they would cause uncomfortable gas if you take in too much air though. My surgeon is fine with straws just not drinking with meals. I drink up until I'm ready to eat since our pouch is kind of like a funnel. Then I wait 30-45 minutes to get a drink afterward.

Wow! Awesome video!
I also like The Beck Diet Solution (book) which says, among other worthwhile things, that being hungry is not a bad thing-- get used to it! I'm starting to be able to do that. I've gone back to not eating before bedtime, not eating after dinner. So, I'm a bit hungry when I go to bed, but, so what?? I sleep fine and wake up and have breakfast.

As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we will walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over again the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives. -- Thoreau
