not following the plan
i dont know what is wrong with me this week. im not tracking my protein or calories and im eating nothing but carbs. cheerios, pretzels, popcorn. it all goes down so much easier than protein dense meats. it really is just laziness but if you guys could help with some motivation...i feel like im taking the surgery forgranted and feeding my body pure crap lately. im 1 week shy of being 4 months out. I hit a stall for basically all of month 3 and it really messed up my mind. all the food/water tracking wasnt getting me results...blah...thanks for reading-Nicole
Suck it up Nicole and get back to basics today! Eat only protein, get rid of all that junk if it is in your house and eat like it your first week on solid foods.
Remember four months ago when you first went to the hospital to have the surgery? Remember how awesome it was to reach that level of the journey? Remember when you left the hospital and how horrible you felt, all the gas pain and the detachment from food? It was hard to get through that but you did. You have come so far and given so much, you don't want to lose it all now.
You might even lose a few pounds still eating this way since you are still so recently out of surgery, but you will never keep it off with this kind of diet.
We all have a day or a meal we think back on and say "oh well screwed that one up", but you have to end it there and not keep it going.
You can totally do this, everyone hits stalls.....but from what I hear and read on this site most stalls end with BIG weight loss! Yours is coming

Try to remind yourself that, although you will lose weight almost no matter what you eat right now (stalls notwithstanding), this is the time period that you really need to use to develop the new, healthy eating habits that will help you keep the weight off once the malabsorption ends! Once that happens, you will have only the size of your pouch (which will be signficantly larger by then) and your new habvits to keep the weight off. If you do not take advantage of this time to LEARN those habits, you will face a difficult time in another 18 months or so... and, although I know you don't believe it now, LOSING the weight after surgery is the easy part and KEEPING IT OFF is the hard part. Do everything you can now to maximize your chances for long term success!

I agree with everyone just get it out of your house, get back to protein first. I know what you are saying though it's so frustrating that carbs and crackers go down no problem and protein is like lead in the chest.. who likes that feeling? You make a nice dinner and two bites in you don't feel like eating because it just doesn't go down easily.. it happens to me all the time and I try to push through it and fight the urge to stop eating and the feeling goes away.. sucks though. Go back to yogurt and cottage cheese if the protein really bothers you, it's better than crackers and chips! Good luck!
I hate that lead in the chest feeling!! One thing I've found that goes down easily (and quickly) and doesn't feel like that and is packed with protein is veggie burgers. The regular Boca's have 19g of protein per pattie and 70 calories. Add a piece of cheese and it's a good, protein heavy, quick meal that doesn't make me feel "heavy" afterwards. Needless to say, I've eaten a ton of them lately.
Get the carby stuff out of the house and go shopping and stock up on protein foods. I loved carby snacks pre-op and I still do. If I have a choice between crackers or yogurt, I'll usually pick the crackers. If I have no crackers in the house but do have yogurt, though, I'll eat the yogurt rather than make a special trip out to the store to buy crackers.
