I lost 23lbs in my first two weeks post-op then stalled until week 8. Stalls happen. People lose at different rates. It's all part of this. DO NOT let the scale stress you out.

I keep a record of my food (online on myfitnesspal.com) and my weight. It doesn't matter much now, I'm losing a fairly consistant 3-4lbs a week. I want to have that record though to go back to to see if there are any patterns. I figure I'm about due for another stall.

First of all like everyone has said "dont compare yourself to anyone !"  We are all different and we all lose differently ! I to started around your same weight ! It seemed slow for me at first also but I promise it will come ! One day you will wake up to go somewhere and the pants you wore last week will fall off ! As everyone has said stay on your plan protein ,water, vit, and walk and you will see a BIG difference before you know it !!! But I think  8 lbs is great !! Be happy with any loss you  have and again dont compare ! Keep your head up and you always have these wonderful folks here to rely on !!!!

Shellbell...I'm only 6 days post-op and I was searching this type of thread yesterday! LOL I lost almost 40 lbs pre-op, didn't gain at the hospital and haved lost oh 3 lbs since. I read this great thread which explained, and makes total sense, that this first month doing liquids and puree we are basically in starvation mode. Our bodies aren't getting nearly enough calories that we need until it adjusts and realizes what the heck we're doing. So ya I understand...we go through this extreme surgery to help us lose weight and we're not seeing results right away. We just have to be patient and work the plan.  This is a misconception that our friends and family believe too right? Do your thing mama, we'll be there soon enough!!

Shelly,

Comparison with others is dangerous territory and is NOT a valid way to measure your success.
But just FYI, I was down 20 lbs. at 6 weeks. I was delighted!

At 3 weeks out, your body is still in a healing mode. You WILL lose weight these first weeks because of the very limited intake you can handle, but you are also dealing with swollen tissues, residual fluids from the IV's, and a body that is recovering from major surgery. Weight loss may be slow - mine was slow but steady for the first year, with the inevidible stalls and times when I lost patience. We tend to want the weight to be gone NOW (if not yesterday!) because, after all, we have been through this surgery! Well, let me assure you that this is one of those experiences that will teach you the lesson of patience. You do need to treat your body gently these first few weeks as it heals, and then work your program with 110% effort.

And you WILL lose weight!

I am three wks post-op and this wk I have stayed the same weight give and take a pound or two fluctuating...BUT  what saved me from frustration is I tape measured myself pre-op and do so again each week.  I have only lost a total of30 lbs since my pre-op apt (about 14 lbs of that lost on pre-op diet), but have lost 5 1/2 inches in my stomach and 3 1/2 in my butt/hips.  So maybe try taping yourself.

I am on track to have my surgery at the end of August, but one thing I remember my surgeon saying is that after surgery metabolism can actually slow down even more and needs a ittle longer to catch up with what's happening.  Maybe that's what's happening?  But be happy with the 8 lbs, that's a cat/small dog!! ;)

Have you somehow missed all of the "I actually GAINED weight in the hospital" and the "help, I'm stalled at only two weeks out" posts?!?!?!

Normal... completely normal.
