On the Road for nearly 8 hours....pain?

I was on a bus today for nearly 8 hours. I feel bloated and swollen and I'm in pain. Does this sound like gas? I'm almost a month out and my stomach pain had completely gone away until now. :( I tried walking and Gas X strips but I'm still in pain and my left side still feels swollen. Suggestions?

You really need to stay hydrated and get up and walk around when you are on the bus or you are at risk for a blood clot. Same for the plane. Watch for shortness of breath, leg swelling and pain. What you are describing sure could be gas. Try to walk it out.

8 hours of no movement could also be DVT, deep venous thrombosis , and that is not something you want to mess with that. I would be concerned because it is only affecting your left side. I would expect gas to be impacting both sides.

But I admit I am a worrier, and tend to be a little overly proactive.

I thought DVT only affected the leg or thigh...is this wrong? My pain is only in my left side of my stomach near my largest incision site.

You are right, DVT is typically legs.

I  didn't completely get that the pain and swelling was only in your stomach area.  So it could be gas, it could be you sat in a position that made the incision a little cranky.  Maybe some ice near that area would help.

You are only one month out .... I think you just over-did it!
