My surgeon provides a hernia belt-type thing for right after to keep everything tucked in. You can never have too many Spanx, though! LOL

A pill crusher. I even crushed my chewables in the beginning and mixed them with applesauce or SF pudding to get them to go down easier.

A measuring tape. I didn't take my measurements before surgery and I'm sorry I didn't get my beginning stats. Sometimes when the scale doesn't move, the inches do.

My surgeon's office sells bariatric vitamins, protein supplements, etc. And they sell gift cards also that can be used towards the purchase of these items.  See if your surgeon offers the same.

Gift cards to clothing stores!!!!!

Pill crusher, didn't think of that either! I'll have to see if his office has gift cards, too. Thanks

DEfinatly you need to own a Blender Bottle or 2.

I got a lot of recipes for protein ice cream and received a ice cream maker and a bag of rock salt for making it.  (recipes can be found at: theworldaccordingtoeggface.com)

I bought myself a set of 6 little 4oz maekins at Bed, Bath and Beyond ($1.49 each)... great for samll portions and little bariatric friendly pies adn casseroles.

A good blender ( I love my Ninja Pro) or a food processor

Bottles of Torani ir DiVinci SF syrups for doctoring shakes adn recipes (great selection at : netrition.com)

Big bag of Splenda

Insulated drink bottles - for taking with you everywherer you go no matter what the season!  Hydration is a key impotance!

Some bariatric friendly cookbooks for future reference

otherwise... I think everyone else mentioned a lot of the other things I would have put.  Tell your Mom I love the idea and it is great that you have such a great support team behind you!  GOod Luck!

How about a demitasse spoon? It's smaller than a teaspoon but bigger than a baby spoon. You can pick them up individually at places like Bed, Bath & Beyond.  Much more adult than the baby spoon my doc gave me :)   I also used a Mr. Coffee mug warmer to put my plate on while I learned to eat slowly.  It took so long to eat at first that everything would get cold.   There's two more things.  I think it's great that your Mom is doing this!

I just thought of another item, a pedometer, to keep track of how far you walk. I wish I had one. I also want to get a snow cone maker b/c I am finding that I am going thru sf popsicles and sf Fla-Vor-Ice Pops like crazy! I just bought the little popsicle molds so I can make my own ice pops with Crystal Light. Also, financial help with getting a gym or Y membership would be good too. I also wish I had taken my pre-op measurements. Like others have stated, sometimes when the scale does not move, the inches do. Good luck and we'll make room for u on the losers bench!  You're gonna do great!

Thank you all for the great ideas! Hopefully I can get a lot of stuff to help me with my post-op life! If anyone wants to friend me, I will gladly approve!
