My mom is throwing me a Bypass Shower to get me all the things I need and to get support from my family and friends.  What should I put on my wishlist?  Is there anything that you wished you had right after surgery or know what is good to have for the first few months post-op?  So far I know I need a food processor/blender, a strainer, kitchen supplies... What else?  I appreciate any advice you can give me!  :-)

What an awesome idea! I wish someone would have thrown me a Bypass shower! I would suggest a food scale, a liquid food thermometer (protein powders like Unjury cannot be added to anything hotter than 130 degrees and it's good to add protein to soups, teas, etc. to get the extra protein). Also on my wishlist is a meat tenderizer, seafood forks and shaker cup with ball in it (for your shakes). Some samples of protein drinks/powders and vitamins would be helpful as well. And if you don't already have one, a regular scale, a measuring tape (to keep track of inches lost) and a camera to keep photo record of weight loss.

good ideas.  I especally second the samples from Vitalady, Unjury and nectar.  Add extra meausing cups ( you will use 1/4c a lot in the beginning).  A small food scale, not the cheap ones with a spring, get a digital that will give you fractions of an ounce.  A good bathroom scale.  A variety of creamed soups.

Any special kind?  The standard one?  They make curved ones for pregnant women, too.  Thanks!

What a great idea!!!  Sounds like you will have a great support team behind you!  I think everything mentioned are great!  I second the protein samples!  All different kinds to try after you get home.  Gift cards for clothing store would be nice to for when the weight starts falling off. ;)

ii second the gift card idea!  that was the best gift i could have gotten.  even though i kept clothes from my prior weights, i ran out of the sizes very fast and am on all new clothes.  the gift cards will help a ton!  i suggest old navy and other cute stores that have stylish clothes but are cheap, you will be going through sizes very quickly.
